Every trip I'll go to the bar and ask for a green cream de'menthe. Then I ask for an extra cup. I walk over to the ice cream machine and layer up a nice cream de'menthe parfait. When I go back to the bar, it never fails, people will ask what it is and then there is a line at the ice cream machine!

What makes my mouth water when we book our trip is things I can not get here(Oklahoma). Grilled pork Sate' with peanut sauce at The Paddock. Grilled Grouper with grilled veggies and rice at Pelicans Nest.

I must confess that my craving also contains alcohol! My favorite drink on the island is called a Slippery Monkey and it is served at the Marriott (at any outside bar at the Marriott Hotel, Marriott Ocean Club or Marriott Surf Club). The Slippery Monkey starts with a glass that has swirls of Hershey Chocolate Syrup in it ( running in a circular pattern around the sides of the glass with a big dollop of chocolate at the bottom). Next, the bartender fills the glass with a Banana Daiquiri base and and adds rum and banana liquor. A straw is added and, for the final step of preparation, Myers Dark Rum is poured all the way down the straw to fill it up. The straw is the secret because it brings all the flavors together in 3 layers in the very first sip. So picture this...you take your first sip from the straw and first it is a big giant shot of dark rum (yowza!), but then this is chased by the cold sensation of the banana, and the sip finishes with the sweet taste of chocolate syrup from the base of the glass. I dream of this drink all year....and it is the first thing I have when I arrive in Aruba.
