Cuba’s Cookin’ – Freshly Updated

"Cuba’s really Cookin’ now with double the kitchen space and the “Back Door”, an exciting new dining venue at the restaurant featuring an atrium and new artwork, wall treatments and décor. The food, inspired by Canadian owner Douglass Markus’s love of all things Cuban, has a blend of flavors that makes for very tasty dishes. The restaurant is lined with an eclectic collection of Cuban artwork. In addition, with live entertainment and a lighthearted and fun ambiance, “Things can get pretty lively in here sometimes,” he reveals.

Housed in one of the oldest and most charming buildings in Aruba dating back to 1877, Cuba’s Cookin’ serves up authentic Cuban delicacies such as Ropa vieja (“old clothes”, braised skirt steak boiled, shredded, cooked and sautéed in a sofrito sauce); Picadillo de res (traditional dish of chopped sirloin); Bistec palomilla (top round marinated and flavored with zesty Spanish onions and parsley), Lechon criollo asado (roast pork with mashed potatoes and gravy, the national anthem in traditional Cuban cooking!), ribs with tasty BBQ salsa (a yummy secret recipe!); and even Cuban chutzpa soul soup (chicken soup with matzo balls).

All entrees are less than US $30 and most are deliciously escorted by plantains, black beans and rice. Try the Habanera shrimp and lobster enchiladas (cooked in a thick simmering broth); fresh grilled Catch of the day and Parrilla de mariscos, a seafood boat of shrimp, fish, mussels and calamari sautéed in a rich Spanish Creole sauce.

Join all the Cubans who enjoy the real deal of Cuban cooking and the best Mojito on the island (made with real Cuban rum, of course!).

With experience including the Radisson (7 years) and kitchens of the finest island restaurants (4 years), the dynamic and energetic Cuban Chef Aldo Becerra has returned to create an incredible menu of Cuban delicacies that will knock your socks off!

Try Cuba’s Cookin’ for the holidays for traditional favorites with a Cuban zing for every budget, party and catering. Reservations – 5880627"

Lisa-thanks for the update on CC. It's great to hear that the rumors of Cuba's Cookin going out of business were not true. We have always enjoyed the food, the ambience, and the music at CC and it is very reasonably priced for an authentic Cuban food. We enjoy it more than the Cuban restauarants in NYC and are excited see their atrium when we're back in Aruba in July.
