My husband takes out everything he wants, then I fill in with the stuff that I know he really wants and just forgot...this year it was flip flops and contacts. We are a team and it works for us. I pack it all, he carries it.

My husband did his own packing when he traveled for business. Since retirement I do it all.

I have been packing my husband's clothes since day one. Have to since they don't make color coded tags..lol
The more we travel the less we dress up. (Just donated most of my formal dresses with matching shoes to the HS for prom/homecoming )
Lou like dress shorts/polo and me a nice sun dress that can be use for multi purpose.. sandles/slides only
Even cruising I bring one nice dress and the guys will wear a suit/tux just to please me.

I have always wondered who decided that tying a piece of cloth tight around the neck and having it drape in front of you is the proper way for men to dress, and why men have always blindly followed along. To me, it's impractical and silly.

You can thank the ancient warriors of Croatia. The Croats used to wear brightly colored scarfs around their necks to identify themselves when wearing their armor. The French adopted the idea as a fashion statement and named the scarf after the originators. Croat became cravat. And the modern necktie was born. I hate them too. I had to "Dress Up" for work five days a week for 40+years. That's why I don't dress up or shave unless I have to now.

That said, there are occasions when stepping your wardrobe up a level or two is a good idea.

act1966: I've been to Quinta del Carmen on Thursdays and it's not a pretty sight.

I usually bring one pair of "traveler" slacks that I wear on the plane. At least I have one pair on the island, other than that its shorts and a button down or polo. Wife is nice capris and a blouse. And when I do wear a tie either for business or pleasure it's always a "Garcia"
