Sad to hear El Gaucho is continuing to slip. Was my husband's favorite restaurant once upon a time.

was our fav once upon a time as well…..steaks always perfect….
think maybe with all the competition now on the island they are finding their business slacking and maybe that is a reason food is not so good anymore.
was told by a dear friend on the island to stay away from there….glad we took his advice, will not go back

Used to be "a must visit" every year for us. We haven't been for quite a while. I'm more of a carnivore than hubby, so he crossed it off his list years ago after so many unimpressive meals, but I stayed true for a while longer. However, after embracing Yemanja as our new favorite place, I have realized the only good thing about El Gaucho is the sauces for the steak. Yemanja's tenderloin is ten times better than any steak I've had at El Gaucho! I'll live without the sauces and pay less for a better meal.

The only good thing at El Gaucho's are the salt and pepper shakers....

funny things----read moneytalks' comments about the sauces at El Gaucho being the best thing there and now that I think about it…I did put a lot of the sauce on my steak when eating there…..although the steaks were tender
I guess you just get comfortable going to one place and feel defensive about it……on to bigger and tastier places !!!!!

To be honest, this used to be our favorite place until this trip. We had noticed the past few times it wasn't as good but thought maybe they were just off that night. This trip we went twice and both times our steak was over cooked. It's pretty expensive to not get your steak cooked perfect time after time. My husband couldn't even finish his steak because it was too grisly. He spit it out and refused to finish. Sad to say we probably won't be back and wil have to find another steak place on the island to visit.
