    First time restaurant help

Hi! We are in Aruba now for the first time, and are a bit overwhelmed by all the restaurant choices and mixed reviews. We heard from someone at the pool that Gianni's was wonderful, but then someone else said it was overpriced and not good, which seems to be the thought here in this forum. We are staying at the Marriott Surf Club, so would like places to walk to or that aren't too far by taxi. So far we've been to Iguana Cantina, which was ok, and Wacky Wahoo's, which was wonderful. We checked out the Sunset Grill at the Radisson, and it looks like their price includes an appetizer, a side, an entree and a desert. Does anyone know if this is right? It seems too good to be true. We'll probably go there. Where is Madame Janette's? I'm having a hard time finding the restaurant locations. Are Barefoot, Passions and Pinchos far? They've all been recommended. Other suggestions? It's just me and hubby this time; we're here for 4 more nights. Thanks.

click above link for Radisson Sunset Grill Menu
maybe Sunset Grill does indeed have specials that includes the appetizer thru dessert.

Barefoot and Pinchos are DOWNTOWN across from the Talk of the Town Hotel. Pinchos is on the property of Surfside and about 150 yds beyond Pinchos is Barefoot. An easy cab ride or bus ride away from the Marriott Surf.

Passions is on the beach across from the Amsterdam Manor on Eagle Beach.
An easy bus ride or taxi ride away.

Madame Janette is inland a bit and not on the bus route.
    Grab a taxi for MJ

Every restaurant you are aiming for is terrific.

Gianni's, from what i read and hear is a crap shoot.
However lately, reviews have been ok. We gave Giannis the 3 strike your out plan a few yrs ago and will not be back.

We are on island too and are enjoying lots of good dining options.
Today we are going to Cooks for Mother's Day lunch and last few places we went to were Amadeus, Hopi Bon, Hung Paradis and Lindas...........all excellent!

If you had to pick three...

This link will help locate your restaurants. Each restaurant listed has a link to map location.

Highly recommend Mme J's. Gianni's.... Gave it one shot... convenient but there are better choices for us. Texas de Brazil is a lot of fun for us carnvores! So many choices!

You do not say whether you have a rental car or are relying on taxis?

I would ask your hotel's concierge about the "deal" at the Sunset Grille. Unless it is a "special", everything at the Sunset Grille has always been ala carte. Again, your concierge should be able to clarify this for you. If they state they do not know, ask them to call the restaurant.

Passions is at the Amsterdam Manor on Eagle Beach and a short taxi ride away. Fare is $8 each way from Palm Beach. Make a reservation ASAP.

A taxi to Pinchos or Barefoot from Palm Beach is going to be $17 each way.

Add an additional $3 each way for any fares on Sunday.

Sorry cannot comment on Gianni's. We have read and heard too many mixed reviews to want to "try" it. There are many other restaurants where we have had good experiences or came highly recommended to chance it on a place that is mixed like Gianni's. Full disclosure, dh is 100% Italian and just assume eat his own Italian at home anyway. Assuming you can get Italian food where you live at home, maybe just discount Gianni's because of that fact.
