That Fondu Place

Has anyone eaten at the fondu place in town (la fondu???)? We've talked about trying it the last two trips but there are always too many restaurants and not enough time. Was wondering how it was and what they had to offer.

I haven't eaten at La Fondue d' Aruba but the one person I know that has didn't give it a very good review.

Hi...been twice. First time, 2 yrs ago, was a "novelty", a 3 hr event. My teen daughters loved it. We did the whole thing, cheese, meats , dessert. The bill was upwards of $170.00...YES! Took family members back last yr., left starving. Not enough food to fill us at all. My husband and nephew left starving. We proceeded to subway for them. Service was good, drinks were also good. However, we are not used to paying $225.00 for less than a pound of meat. There were 8 small pieces of chicken. Portions were so small that we will never go back. In fact, the first time we went the place was packed, the second time we went, a yr. later, the place was empty. I guess people and word of mouth caught on. We will never go again....

Yikes. I'm surprised they've been around for the two years they have. No, I think we can safely skip that one. Thanks!

An alternate place to go is Cooks Restaurant. The food is great, we like it better than El Gaucho. Not only are their Steaks great but also their seafood and pasta.

Additionally, you have the option to grill your own steak at your table. Eight people can sit at the grill table and the grill is built in the center of the table. It is a great experience. It is much more enjoyable than being cramped up in a small table for 4 with little space to move. This one is big and comfortable.

What I like is when you don't want to grill your steak they can prepare it for you, so you don't have to grill your steak if you don't want to. They have great music and the view is great while watching the cars pass by and it's amazing when the cruise ships are leaving port.

This restaurant is located on the same street as El Gaucho and La Fondu. It is at the intersection before El Gaucho, on the second floor where the DHL Express office is at in the Wilhelmina Straat. It is well worth the try.
