    French Steakhouse

I heard from Manchebo today and the French Steakhouse, which is now called "Chop House Manchebo" is open. The décor was quite dated a couple of years ago when we ate there so the renovation was overdue and I'm looking forward to trying it in a week or so. I'll let you know about it!

I was hoping their website would be updated with menus and photos but it's not. Will be anxious to hear your report CP!

Can't wait to hear your review. It's tentatively on our list for July.

Curt....if you should have experienced the old french steakhouse of many years ago!
the place was delicious and fun.
the wait staff were wonderful and demonstrative.
if one ordered the "ambassador special" or another kind of steak (i forget the name)....they'd ring a bell right before they served it to you and everyone would say
    "ooo la la"
for a lng time we called the place the oo la la restaurant.

i often miss the good old days.
omg, i have turned into my mother.

I remember the Ambassador Special..... we got it w/o the ooo la la... but enjoyed our evening.... here's my review from a few years ago..... and I'm looking forward to trying 'The Chophouse at Manchebo'....

Thursday was The French Steakhouse. This was a first time for us and we enjoyed FSH! Promptly seated under a bank of 8 pulsing lights that continued to be a distraction until finally they were simply shut off! The decor is quite nice in a 90's sort of way..... clean functional, not too modern and just a touch dated. We each had the Ambassador special which is a nice traditional 5 course meal with each of us selecting a Filet. The melon was a quite under ripe for our first course. When the salad arrived..... we got to the point of 'would you like some fresh cracked pepper?' Of course we did... the waiter reached into his pocket and brought out a teeny tiny McCormick pepper grinder....!!!! I cracked up and will always think of that whenever I'm offered pepper on a salad. The silverware is set for a 3 course meal..... so when the waiter picked up the salad dishes he simply set the used knife and forks on the table for reuse, rather than replacing them. This is one of my hot buttons with service in a restaurant. It's such a simple thing to train the servers to replace the silverware.... I didn't complain... just went with the flow. The steaks were excellent and the decafe coffee was old! Was a nice meal and an excellent value. Spent 95 with a wine for DW and a good tip. I rate FSH a solid B and recommended for the value!

That is funny a small McCormick pepper. Yes I noticed some restaurants change the knife or fork but others don't. I may add this one to the list. One of the cab drivers told me The French Steakhouse was his favorite as well as Screaming Eagle which I have not tried yet.

Hubby and I used to love the French Steakhouse but probably haven't been in about 8 years. We were big fans of the Ambassador's special - great deal. I'm curious to hear new reviews. We will be back in Aruba next month and would love to give it another try.

Thanks for posting the menu, Liz. I'm curious about how much people like it. We'll be staying at the Bucuti in November and it's nice to have walkable options.
