How important are reservations for MJ's?
We are leaving for the airport tomorrow night for a very early flight to aruba on Thursday. Would love to eat at Madame Jenette's while we are there. The thing is we would like to wing what nights we would eat where and I've read a few posts that due to the economy reservations aren't as necessary in the past for many restaurants. What are your feelings on making reservations for MJ's? We are a party of 8.

Madame Janette's IS one of the most popular restaurants on the island.
Factors to consider:
If you need to eat at a specific time, make a reservation. Definitely not a restaurant where you can breeze right in, even more so in that it is Easter week. You could always wait until you arrive on the island and see what your concierge says. If worst comes to worst and you cannot get a reservation one of your first nights, hopefully they would be able to get you in one of the later nights before your vacation is over. Either way, my motto is always, better safe than sorry.

I would say that no matter how many are in your party, you should reserve. A couple came in where I work and said they were going to MJ's the next night, which was a Tuesday, and were planning on going in at 6:30. I insisted on calling for them, and it turned out they had nothing at 6:30, even for 2 on a Tuesday, but gladly took a reservation for 6 PM, while it was still available.
