Life is Short, Eat Dessert First

    2 things.

What is your favorite dessert for you in Aruba?
(for me the walnut cake at Wacky Wahoo although Wacky Wahoo makes me wacky with their reservation system and also the chocolate cake at MJs)

Have you ever gone into one of the Aruba restaurants and ordered dessert only?
we have......a number of times, at about 9 pm or later... at Madame Janette (called first) and ordered apple strudel and or chocolate cake and coffee!

... mine was always the coconut cream cake at Mme J's...... til they 86'ed it from the menu 2 weeks before I ate there this year.

Now I'm just waiting for act1966 to fashion the perfect dessert margarita for my next island sugar fix.

I'm torn between the Dutch apple pie at LG Smith and the Nutella Cheesecake at Quinta del Carmen. Also partial to a scoop of vanilla ice cream with a shot of green creame de menthe. I miss the days when the Divi had serve yourself ice cream. I will fill up a plastic cup with vanilla soft serve then go to the bar and ask for a creame de menthe. Inevitably others would ask what I had and then quickly follow suit!

The Tarte Tatin at Screaming Eagle (or any of their desserts) - it's very similar to the ones we've had in Paris. Many times over the years we have shown up at Screaming Eagle for dessert and a glass of champagne at their bar around 10pm - both to hang out with friends and to have a delicious dessert/nightcap.

I still remember (probably my favorite over the years) the key lime cheesecake they used to have at Tulip. I am not much of a dessert person (my husband and I always share one) but that key lime cheesecake was the best......

And if we really want to go WAY back (LOL!)....used to love the flaming Crepes Suzette they prepared tableside at The Flame restaurant (which has been gone for many years now.)

wow...feel like I am missing out on something...I never order dessert in Aruba, well, actually I rarely if ever order it at home....
There are a few exceptions of course, but now I'm thinking I could order dessert while everyone one else stuffs themselves on a meal and not go back to the hotel stuffed to the gills and wishing I hadn't eaten so much !!!! Ok, its a plan, I will let everyone know how it goes ....LOL !!!!

Maroc is great! We shared the Chef's Surprise tapas platter and then shared a dessert - great (and fun) dinner!

I forgot about the Tarte Tatin at Wilhelmina (caramelized apple with puffed pastry) - it's different than the traditional one at Screaming Eagle but also yummy!
