As the map shows it's just past the Valero station. You actually go in via the Valero stations' second entrance (second going from the hotel area)

It's very much a Dutch pub. Great food at reasonable prices. Open also for lunch.

I have pics in my trip report below.

The Buccaneer - Nice place for kids, but the food is so-so. In one dining room each table has a fish tank at one end and in the other room there's one giant tank with sharks and turtles.

Smokey Joes - Good Food, good prices. The service was quick. Good place with children.
Iguana Joe's - Sister restaurant of Smokey Joe's

Papiamentos - Good food, but it's been a while since we've eaten there as well.

El Gaucho - The best steak I have ever had. Since they expanded their dining area we've only eaten in the new section which is more roomer than the original section.

Sole Mare - Our favorite for Italian. This year we skipped it to try Gianni's which is owned by Sole Mare. Very similar menus and the meal was excellent.

Alfredos- I consider this a hidden gem. The prices are good and wev'e gotten some very good meals there.

GIANNI's - Same owners as Sole Mare. Food was good. Similar menus.

Ah, now I understand. Thank you. We haven't ventured much past Sole Mare, maybe once or twice in that area.

Bingo's is my absolute favorite restaurant on the Island for casual dining. The service and food are excellent - i go there 2 or 3 times whenever I am in Aruba. The Bingo salad is huge and delicious, the carpaccio appetizer is the best I've ever had and enough for two, the Bingo Brochette (chicken or beef on a skewer) with seasoned curly fries (only $10) is delicious and their creme brulee for dessert is large and soooo good. Say Hello to the owners Franz and Mike while you are there and ask for Diane or Nanette for your waitress - they are all terrific. Geeee, I sound like a comercial, I'd better start asking for a commission!! Enjoy.... My other favorites are Flying Fishbones, Madame Janette's, Pincho's. I'm not a fan of El Gaucho's. For local fish, I like Driftwood. Chalet Suisse is nice with good food and service but it doesn't really have that much of a vacation feel to it. Rumba's is another place I like - especially for lunch - really good sanwiches and salads. Marina Pirata is good for fresh fish - nice atmosphere but don't order meat here - not their forte. Enjoy your dining experiences. if you want to check out menus, go to www.dinearuba.com Cheryl

Returned last night from 8 days at the Marriott Stellaris. I would like to add Simply Fish to the restaurant list--yes, I know it is a hotel restaurant--but it is very good. Romantic setting on the beach right at the water's edge, excellent service, great seafood, and reasonably priced ($175 for 2, with wine and dessert, which is excellent for a couple of New Yorkers!) And closer to the high rise hotels than Flying Fishbone. Also, Tuscany's at the hotel was excellent--it will soon change to a Ruth's Chris (also known to us in New York). LOVE LeDome, where they treated us like VIPs for our anniversary dinner, and the food and service was outstanding. However, we were extremely unhappy with (Chez) Matilde. We had dinner at the "old" CM a total of 4 times in 2 previous visits to Aruba and it was incredible. However, we ate there last Saturday, and we were very dissatisfied. Service, new decor, all great. However, my steak was a mess of gristle/fat, underdone on one end, and very overdone on the other. It never should have left the kitchen! They took my meal off the bill, but it really put a damper on the evening.
