OK on the salad.... but don't mess with my rack o lamb!

Madame Janette's has always been our favorite place on the island for a splendid dining experience. I would also like to point out that I have never, ever, written a negative review about anyone or anything, anywhere. That is about to change. First, let me start off stating that the food was fantastic as always. What little bit we got. My $32.00 tenderloin was the size of a half dollar coin. No kidding. The server explained that portions recently have been cut way back and they are getting a lot of complaints about it.Then there was the service. It was like pulling teeth to try and get our server to come over to our table. At one point, I went and got a drink at the bar, I was so tired of waiting for our server. In my entire life,I have never had that poor of service. After complaining (which I never do!) the manager was scared to even come over and talk to us about it. I am part owner of a few fine dinning restaurants in the states and by no standards is this acceptable. My wife and I will not be returning to Madame Janette's until we here changes have been made.
We too have been going there for many years -- actually twice per year for the last 10 years or so. Went there again last week and for the first time, it seemed very commercial and very expensive. Service used to be great, now it is ordinary. Food wasn't bad, but the rest of the experience turned us off and we likely won't be returning when we head back to the island next month.

Fortunately, there are other comparable restaurants. For example, Chalet Suisse has gotten better each year and its prices haven't gone up like MJ's.

welcome to the aruba.com community forum.
i find it unfortunate that your first post on this forum is one of displeasure of one of the restaurants.

we had a very enjoyable experience there recently, although it was only for coffee and dessert.

as a loyal customer/diner, not one more try?

Thumbs up Full report to come

We went to MJ's last night and I want to report all was excellent. The food and service was perfect. We had a very bad experience last year and was given a dinner for all of us (8) complimentary to make up for it. We wanted to thank Job, who had issued it, but found out that he no longer worked at MJ. Asked for owner to thank him and to say how satisfied we were.

Just to let you all know that we had a great dinner. Full details when I do a trip report.

madame jeanette's, not what it used to be

what made it good has made it worse. too popular and they figured they could start to fool people. overpriced and not worth it anymore. many other places that give you better service, food and value.
