    Menus and prices

I clicked on a link for a restaurant in another thread, but was disappointed when the prices weren't listed on the menu page. Now I'm not one to shy away from a place due to its prices, especially in Aruba. But, I believe in getting what you pay for whether it's food quality, ambience, whatever, and I feel that if a place doesn't advertise their prices they are hiding something or embarrassed. I just like to have a general idea of the cost before arriving and I am less inclined to visit an establishment that doesn't publish their prices. Is the lack of prices some marketing ploy?

I'm with you on this. I usually go with the thought if they don't publish it, it's probably expensive. Like you, that's not a deal breaker, but I like to have an idea when planning. I guess it could also be that they don't have a person dedicated to their site to keep the info up to date?

Which restaurant? Maybe someone here has been.

I suspect it's more likely that they don't have the skills or access to update their website on a daily basis... that can be challenging if they do a lot of "market price" items.

I'm more wary when a business uses FaceBook as their primary tool for web presence or have absolutely no website at all.

Here's a link to a lot of restaurant menus .... some have pricing.... some don't. I'm also suspect of no prices on a web menu, but the concierge usually has a current menu with prices. Yup..... I'm sure lots of folks get turned off by prices... but you only live once.

I think some businesses are reluctant to list prices due to the fact, like each time you and I head to the grocery store, prices fluctuate.

Another way for a restaurant to get around this issue is not to post the menu at all. If I cannot see the prices, I would at least like to see a menu to know what is offered.

Here is just one of many extremely POPULAR Aruba restaurants which does not list prices http://www.madamejanette.info/joomla.../our-main-menu

Here is another http://papiamentoaruba.com/our_menu.php?pageid=Mg== with just PICTURES- no prices, no description.

I used to be skeptical of restaurants that didn't list their prices. That is until I read an article in our local newspaper at home where a customer sued a restaurant because his take out delivery was a few dollars more than what was listed on their menu. Updating a website can be expensive and mistakes happen, so I guess I understand their side now, although I much prefer to see prices listed

ThIs kind of goes along with what I was trying to say. Both if these restaurants are on the pricier side compared to other on the island. I haven't been to MJS but I know our evening at Papiamento was definitely over $100, and well worth it for what we ordered and enjoyed.
My thought is for most dinner restaurants with nice menu options and reviews describing them as a nice atmosphere or romantic, I figure we will likely spend $100-$150.

I'm more focused on bad or mixed reviews (and god knows there are some passionate reviewers on here myself included ) - if everybody is raving about somewhere, I'll book the restaurant. But I know that's not an option for everybody so the restaurants should save themselves and diners time by publishing prices.

TripAdvisor also gives an indication of what the prices are like (e.g Carte Blanche is "$$$$" while Que Pasa is "$$").

If they don't list the prices you can expect them to be above the average prices for sure.
