I don't post reviews very often, as there are so many helpful reviews and I don't often think there's much I can add. I certainly never thought I would post this one, but I felt compelled to do so, so here goes.
I'm currently on day seven of a 10 day stay in Aruba. Two nights ago my friends and I went to Mme. Jeanette. We always look forward to this dinner as it's always been one of the best of our trip.
I had a really good appetizer it was a shrimp casserole it was very spicy which I like. I order this every time I go and as always it was delicious. Next came the entrée and all four of us order the surf and turf. When the food came we were totally shocked, and i am not exaggerating.
The steak was a piece of fillet that was approximately 2 ounces maybe it was three, but I'd be surprised if it was. it was about the size of my thumb, same on all four plates. The lobster tail was very small and it was really maybe 2 forkfuls of actual meat. We were so surprised because in the past when we ordered this dish the meat was generally about six or 7 ounce filet. The food was good tasty and quality but there was so little of it that it left us hungry. For this entrée we were charged $39. It made no sense because on the same menu was a 20 ounce bone in rib eye for the same price.
We are not complainers, so we kept our mouths shut and ate, filling ourselves up a bit on bread. We passed dessert just because we were so disappointed. On the way out my friend stopped and spoke to Thomas the manager and Thomas was very nice, but hisvresponse was that yes they did make the meat smaller and he apologized he told us that the next time we come to remind him And he would take care of us whatever that meant. It really meant nothing because we come here once a year, and he's not going to remember. In all honesty I'm not sure that I'll go back to MME Jeanneatte.
In contrast last night we went to Smokey Joe's for ribs best meal I've had on the island so far: cost was $50 per couple with the tip. Amazing.
