I was hoping to try and convince my brother and his wife to give MJs one more try. They were there last year in June and the heat made the evening a real bust! After Andrea's experience, I think we will definitely pass this year.

My question....Having one of the best restaurants on the island, why wouldn't the owners try to somehow enclose it and put air condition in.I know that they want it to seem that you are outside but if more and more complain about the heat and bugs why would anyone want to go there to eat?I stopped years ago because of the mosquitoes,I dont like to smell bug spray while i'm eating.

i think enclosing it would certainly not help the atmosphere.
it is a lovely garden setting.

i wonder if oscillating fans can be used to help move the air around when it is necessary?

and maybe spraying the area (without patrons or food present) for mosquitos would help.

i was sad and annoyed that our experience was less than wonderful.

So sorry didn't enjoy Mme J's this year. Fortunately for us, we have never had a bug or a lack of breeze problem and we always go in June/July/August. Mme J's continues to be our fav restaurant and we'll continue to 'chance it'.

Our yearly trip is end of March to mid April so there is always a nice cool breeze at MJs. A few year's back we did a second trip in October with my Bro-in-law and Sis-in-law and it was VERY uncomfortable. Hot, humid and no breeze. We made sure we ate at all indoor air-conditioned places the rest of the week. The heat doesn't bother some people; unfortunately, I'm not one of them - especially when I'm eating!!!

We go to Madam Janette twice a year!! We never sit inside because it feels like a sauna!! We request a table near the music; there is a light breeze and we are always comfortable. Besides, it is the most romantic spot listening to music and eating excellent food under the moonlight!!

we always sit outside in the garden area and it was in the garden area this year that we were so hot as there as NO breeze.
on the porch area, they had fans and everyone there was pretty comfortable from what i saw.

my wife and I always sit on the porch right by one of the big fans..Gives you a nice breeze and keeps all the bugs away..We've been doing this now for about 10 years and have never had a problem..You can still hear the music and enjoy the atmosphere..
