We've been to both and like both - but we give the edge to Passions because you can actually see the sunset from your table and we don't have to drive (we both like our wine. )

Amy -

For our next trip we have reservations at both Passions and OM&TS.

We haven't been to either - the Passions reservations are for us and our friends. The Old Man reservations are for just us on our anniversary.

I have been contemplating changing the Old Man reservations to Madame Janettes where we had our anniversary last year.

Any thoughts?

If we do passions - is OM&TS overboard on beach dining?

Thanks

Do you have time to do all 3 - Passions, OMTS, and MJ's? If you haven't been to OMTS then I would definitely try it over MJ's - it's a nice, quiet atmosphere which is great for a romantic dinner for two.

wildewoman, are you renting a car? If not then definitely Passions. A taxi ride to OM&TS is going to run $64 round trip.

passions = good food but the atmosphere is definitely the "cheapest" out those three choices. it's basically a few tables strewn along the beach area in front of the hotel. b/c of this, you will have people still swimming, running, etc... while you're eating - if you make it by sunset. the decor is pretty much like any other hotel's beach dining experience. as for food, i can't give an opinion as i haven't tried the other hotel's offerings save for passions. however, all in all, the service and everything else is great here. oh, and as amy had said, b/c you're on the beach facing westwards, you do see the sunset unhindered as you would from your hotel.

fishbone = better atmosphere but not very fond of their dishes. also, very cramped. the tables are literally stacked on top of the each other. but they do offer 4 tables right on the water's edge for those willing to dunk their foot in the water.

old man = right next to fishbone. better atmosphere and much more private setting. food is about the same as passions imo.

both fishbone and old man are far from the high rise hotel area - $30/one way cab ride.

price = i think all 3 places are the same.

another place to consider is mirandi. although it's not on beach dining you are seated on a dock/pier by the water on the south side of the island. you can see the sunset here also but not as clear as passions....nothing beats beaches on the west side of the island. the food is great but a little pricey compared to their portions. and they have very limited seating - 20 at max imo.

Hi Lisa ~

Yes - we plan on renting a car - just for a couple of days - to shop & to try new places to eat.

Since we have the car - I think we'll try the Old Man. We have 2 nights that we plan on eating out - should we go to MJ on the other night??

Thanks!!

We always have time to eat!

Thanks for the answer - I'll keep my reservation at OMTS.

We will go back to MJ's when we are there in December/Jan.
