Maybe our resident Passion expert Amy will have the latest on Passions. It is one of her favorite restaurants on island.
Passions has been using real glassware for quite a few years now.

We like both restaurants. Food is great at both places but we like Passions better for food and atmosphere. The food (my own personal likes/dislikes) at MJ's is far too rich and heavy on the sauces so I'm very limited to what I can choose on their menu. We prefer Passions because the food is grilled and has a lighter taste without the heavy sauces.

We will be there in June for our 10th anniversary and we are going to passions. We went last year for our 9th anniversary and booked it right at sun set. It was an amazing time. I am not sure if the guy was there singing last year is a typically thing, but you can't go wrong with dinner at sunset on the beach being serenaded with awesome music. My husband even made a special request and he sang our song. I am crossing my fingers that this year's dinner will be just as memorable as last years. And even though they are portapots for the bathroom, they are the fanciest portapot I've ever used

We are also going to MJ's while we are there for my mom's 60th bday...but for a romantic dinner I say Passions.

Wow thank you all so much for the replies! Hmmmm....I still have a lot to think about lol!! I love the idea of Passions because of the gorgeous atmosphere and the sunset, but I have also heard so much about MJ's and it seems like it is a real Aruban landmark. Maybe since romance is the goal here we should do Passions...

As you can see, when it comes to food, everyone has different likes/dislikes. It doesn't mean that one is better than the other. Same goes for favorite hotels, favorite cities, etc......there is no "best".......it's all just a matter of personal preference.

I am in the minority here
...but our family much prefers Passions over Madame Janette. We have been to MJ'S twice and the food was good, but being just plain HOT in a close atmosphere with a fan blowing down on us was not very romantic and my dh refuses to sweat through another meal no matter what the weather. Probably not my first choice either , but I am fully aware we are in the minority.

With that said, when in Aruba and celebrating a special occasion whether it be a birthday or our wedding anniversary we do choose Passions. The atmosphere cannot be beat, the food is very good, the service is excellent and I do not know about anyone else here, but I can eat dinner outdoors here at home about 8 months out of the a year. It is only at Passions that we are able to eat dinner outdoors, under the stars with the palm fronds rustling in the wind, the waves lapping at the shore and the stars overhead.

    No FLAMES please.
If you sit outside at MJs it is usually not too hot, especially if you are getting a breeze. No fans out there either. We were hot when we ate in the covered area though.

Do yourselves a big favour and go to both. Pick one for the anniversary and go to the other one on another night. After all, you are on ARUBA. Whats another $65? You could probably find that mush in your couch cushions. Dont get home and be saying-I wish we had gone to? How often do you really get to go to a place like Aruba? Live a little.

I like your philosophy! I just checked out the MJ menu, the seafood sounds delish!

Yeah..... do both! MJ's is the best food and atmosphere with a great splash of romance.... and my wife has loved the Almond Grouper 6 years in a row!!!! Passions does have the best beach front atmosphere and food!
