We found Suisse Chalet to be a very pleasant surprise!!! Had the Filet Mignon -- wow! Don't think I've had one more tender or flavorful ever! Choc Mousse to die for! Went back a second time before we left!!!

Thanks Andy for sharing your menu! Darn, I almost went with the Wiener Schnitzel, but I opted for the fish. I'm sure a lot of people would love it, but I just wasn't into the coating they put on it.

Next time I'm going to go with my first feeling, and I'll see if my husband will order the Filet Mignon (thanks Wendy!..and Chocolate Mousse...now that's my kind of dessert). I never would have thought that it would be such a good place for steak. My h ordered the Beef Stroganoff, and while he liked the dish, it wasn't up to our expectations.

I've just heard so many good things about Chalet Suisse, that I really feel like we should give it another try with recommendations on what people love. I'm still going to order the Lobster Bisque again.

Allow me to offer a curious Chalet Suisse story. Some 8-10 years ago we went to CS for the first time. It was going to be one of our "special" dinners based on quality and ambiance. The place had come highly recommended.

We had a reservation, dressed nicely and arrived on time - about 7:30-8:00. We were seated in a window alcove - a very nice spot for a couple to enjoy dinner. We were in a great mood and looking forward to a special experience. Sadly, the special experience took on a new and different meaning from that point.

A team of servers descended on us and would NOT leave us alone. We made it clear we were not in a hurry. Nonetheless, they badgered us beyond belief to hurry through the meal. Servers returned repeatedly to take our order, clear the table before we were done, etc. We finished our meal and left. I couldn't begin to tell you what we ate or how good it was as all the rest overshadowed the food. It was a most unpleasant experience and I vowed to never return. Oddly, at no time during the meal was the restaurant more than half full!

Our good friends from Chicago, whom we spend time with every year in Aruba, have always raved about the place and kept urging us to give it another try as they had never had anything but great service. We finally decided to do so this year and we were not disappointed.

We have certain spots we like to return to every year where we have had really good experiences. Lately we have been having a run of bad luck and a couple of favorites have bitten the dust. It's nice we now have the CS to go back to.

Hi sunworshipperII! It just seems like yesterday we were both preparing for our Aruba trips , and now we're both already back .

I wonder if lamb is an acquired taste. I've only had it once, and I didn't care for it. If I could try a sample though, I'd be game to give it another chance. I wish Chalet Suisse had a sample plate with their signature dishes.

Ah yes, the escargot was scrumptious too! (drooling!) And there was a dessert that involved chocolate and fresh fruit!!!!
We really enjoyed the waitstaff, esp the maitre d' -- he was a riot! We had great service, but never felt smothered or rushed.

We tried the Suisse Chalet last year for the first time it was great, we'll be eating there again in a few days. Also, booked Anna Maria's this year based on recommendations from the forum. Eight days and counting; not getting much done at work, I'm sure it will be there when I get back.
