    Reservations Question(s)

We are on the island for a week. I have reservations at a few places that came recommended (Barefoot, Pinchos, Fishbones, Matthews). I am leaving a few open days as I want to go to Wacky Wahoos and Zeerovers and they don't have online reservations.

My question, if I don't have reservations for every night are there a lot of restaurants that we can get into without them that are good?

Also, I'm still trying to figure out where to go for our first night there. We get in around 4pm. Need to pick up our car, cell phone and a few groceries and then plan on heading to the hotel to get settled and change for dinner so I figure maybe 6:30 reservations so we can see the sunset. Any recommendations to make it a great first night on the island?

    TIA,
    Pam

Hello! I always go for a week and make reservations for 3 or 4 of the nights. I usually never have a problem getting in to other restaurants on the off nights. It also depends on what time of year you go... From September to mid December is their slower season.

As far as a first night restaurant, we stay at the Marriott and usually get something simple from Champion's, a sports bar located at the Marriott Ocean Club. Our friend always makes Pizza Bobs his first stop.

My husband and I are always exhausted when we get there because we tend to overdo it with the Dramamine on the plane

Definately book Mme Janette for one night.... this is a favorite restaurant of ours and the favorite of a large number of forum members. You'll actually be ok with same day reservations for most places. 2 Fools and a Bull and Carte Blanche would be exceptions.

First night we usually do Texan de Brazil or Smokey Joe's depending on hunger level and wear and tear from our travel!

We never make reservations in advance. We are pretty much on no schedule and don't want to be tied to a reservation for a day/time somewhere (I did rsvp Black Pearl a month or so ago). We find most restaurants are available on a moments notice if you aren't too particular about times. MJ's and a couple others might be the exception, but we can usually get the night and time we want after arriving on the island.

For a casual dinner on the beach, MoomBa is close to the Boardwalk. Gilligans at the Radisson is also directly on the beach with casual dining. For a romantic more formal dinner, about 15 minutes away, Passions on the beach at the Amsterdam Manor would be a great choice. It has become our choice for our first night dinner.

I agree, this year we only made reservations for MJ's and Passions. The rest will fall into place once we get there in a couple or three weeks or so.

That's what we do as well. We'll be there for 2 weeks in Sept and we made reservations for Passions and Carte Blanche. The other nights we'll either do walk-ins or call in the late aftrrnoon for reservations that same night. Hate to be tied down to specific places/times every night.
