Reservations and Where?

I'm going to Aruba for the first time in October, are there any restaurants that you would recommend I try and need to make reservations at in advance? Also does anybody know how far in advance I can make my reservations for most places? I imagine it's still too early at this point.

Sunnybride, its a tad bit early to make reservations at some places, some not.
I would recommend reservations at the following places though now....Madame Jeannette's, Mirandi's..actually, not alot know that I think of it..

Not sure about MJ's but I know El Gaucho doesn't take reservations this far in advance.......but if you are nervous about it, get on this website and check out the reservations for each restaurant you are planning on going to and then make a note to get online as soon as you can make them....as I said, we actually do not even make any, we just make them once there and it always works out ok, but we have been going for so many years that if we could not get in somewhere during our stay we would just go elsewhere....I'm a fly by the seat of your pants type.....

Reservations

When eating in Aruba do you need to make a reservation for every restaurant or can you just walk in ?
Places like Texas de Brazil or Giannis ? I would assume Places like Madamme Jeanettes and Passions on the beach require Reservations, but can you just walk into any place or do you need to plan ahead ?
Thanks !

it all depends on the season and the day of the week.
i feel pretty comfortable saying walk in to a place like giannis, sole mare, busters, salt n pepper, tulip, texas de brazil, amazonia, buccaneer, matthews during low season.

places like
flying fishbone, cooks, driftwood, amadeus, wacky wahoo, madame janette, passions, ruths chris, simply fish, el gaucho, lg smiths, mathilde and windows on aruba should play it safe year round with reservations.

and yes, i left out about 80% of the restaurants ;-)

if in doubt, make the reservation.

If you have your heart set on dining at some special place, then you should definitely make a reservation. I felt that way about Madame Jenettes on my first trip and made on-line reservations 2 weeks before I left, and that's my plan for this year as well. It's kind of easy for me since I'll be staying at an AI and have a fall back, but I have a number of places that I really want to try this year and will probably call for resevations.

We found if you go earlier (like 6pm) most places you don't need to make reservations.
The only place we made reservations at actually was Madame Janettes.

sunnysmiles - that depends! In the winter months - the sunset is at 6pm and any restaurant with a sunset view is packed at 6pm!

This time of year - sunset is approx 7pm.
