    Restaurant Options

I've been perusing all the restaurant reviews in hungry anticipation of a week of eating out every night!
    A couple questions:

    1. I've been making a list of restaurants recommended on here that seem like they would fit us. Curious about any more? On the list are: Matthew's Beachside, Buccaneer, Scott's Brats, Smokey Joe's, Pinchos, Salt & Pepper, Zeerovers, Marina Pirata.
We prefer to eat outdoors. We aren't foodies and average food but great locale/atmosphere is better than super gourmet food in a fancy place. Kids are kinda picky and while I hope that they will embrace another country and decide to suddenly try and love grouper - they will honestly be happiest with mac n cheese. Hubby isn't picky and I am a seafood fanatic who can't wait to try the local fish.

    2. Reservations - obviously we can't hit every restaurant on the list. Hubby and I have reservations at Barefoot for our one night out sans kids, but were hoping to take the rest of the week as it came. Are we going to need reservations to get into places? Or is there a long wait? There are cruise ships in town 3 of the days and then a regatta on the weekend.

Thanks! There are a lot of restaurant threads to sort through so I'm sure I missed some great places.

    your list looks pretty good.
scott's brats closes at around 3 daily so is really only a breakfast or lunch option.
scott's is a beachside hut/building on the beach at playa linda.

matthews has a rib special on tuesday night......
you may want to substitute Matthews and Smokey Joes for Hollywood Smokehouse.

i think that your children will love Buccaneer with the beautiful fish tanks.

one of the most frequent things said about aruba is.............so many restaurants, not enough time.

We normally travel to Aruba in May and again in November. We have had no problem getting into a restaurant without reservations. That said there have been certain restaurants like Barefoot or Madame Jannettes where we made a reservation because we didn't want to lose out. We also tend to dine out earlier than most like 6:00.

As for other restaurant suggestions, West Deck has gotten very good reviews. It's on our list for November. I think the kids would probably like Casa Tua for pizza. The Hollywood Smokehouse recently opened to rave reviews for BBQ.

We had lovely dinners at Pincho's and Matthew's earlier this month..... very happy with both options and would do both again in a heartbeat. Smokey Joe's is an old favorite for us and we enjoy dining there almost every year. We've always enjoyed Salt and Pepper for lunch.... and should be quite suitable for dinner... although we've never had dinner there.

When are you going and how old are your kids? We just went at the end of June until mid-July with our 7 1/2 and 5 1/2 picky eaters. We eat out early because of the kids, between 5 and 6 usually. I do not know if you need a reservation for Matthews, Marina Pirata, or Buccaneer but the others not reservation-type places. If you eat later you might have to wait a little for a table but if you are earlier eaters you will not have an issue.

My daughter usually only wants mac and cheese also and we was willing to try different foods at places like Salt and Pepper and West Deck becuase we ordered the small dishes and ate family style, if they really liked something we ordered another dish of it. We also made sure we always had bread and french fries as a staple so something looked familiar. At Salt and Pepper my kids loved the meatballs (they have an unfamiliar sauce so I just did not give them a lot of the sauce), garlic bread and the pastechi although they both liked beef pastechi better than the chicken. At Bugaloe they had grilled cheese which was literally french bread open face with gouda on it, simple and delicious. But you can order some other things too like the frickendel and just offer them some. There are definitely familiar stuff as long as your kids are willing to make slight substitutions like gouda instead of American Cheese.

Have fun, we miss Aruba so much.

We loved ZeeRovers. A ton of fresh fish and at good prices. They are not open on Mondays. Get there for lunch or a late lunch early dinner or they may be low on fish.
