Restaurant recommendation for the first night?

    Hello Everyone.
I will be staying at the Marriott and am interested in a dinner restaurant for my first night. It will be for my husband and me.
We were thinking of going to The Old Cunucu House. Any thoughts?
    Thank you!

hey lynn welcome to the aruba.com community forum

very rarely does the old cunucu house get a mention on the forum.
that place used to be one of our favorites in the late 90s/early 2000s.
i think it has changed ownership and or management since we were there last.

i will also suggest for a nice dinner (and not expensive)would be also in the hi rise are.....salt n pepper and smokey joes.

Casa Tua has always been our traditional first meal in Aruba. It is simple, casual and no thought involved. This trip - due to our friends not arriving till day 2 of our trip (and them being huge casa tua fans) we are putting Casa Tua off until then.

This trip will be Pincho's for night one!

paul and i now have a traditional 1st and last night restaurant.
Hung Paradis @ the seaport marketplace.

i was going to suggest it over the old cuncucu house, but they will be up at the marriott and heading back downtown can be considered a nuisance, especially on such a long trvel day.

We also have a traditional 1st meal but it's usually mid afternoon. We stop for late lunch at Mulligans at the Divi Golf resort on the way to the Phoenix. Maybe because that is the first place we stayed at 5 yrs ago but ended up buying a penthouse at the Divi Phoenix. Love sitting there eating a great pizza or burger watching the iguanas run across the greens knowing we have 2+ weeks on the island. I'll bet it would be great for a first dinner too or maybe sitting by the water at Matthews would work too.

We have been going to Aruba for several years and we make Smokey Joe's our first night dinner. If you like BBQ and ribs, give it a try.

Our traditional first night dinner, since we always stay at the Marriott, is Simply Fish on the beach in front of the Ocean Club / Stellaris Resort. It's pricey, but the food is usually terrific and it's a great, romantic view at sunset. It's easy too, since we just roll out of the room to the beach.

Welcome to the forum. Our first night is usually Smokey Joes or Texas d' Brazil..... depending on appetite. Both are an easy walk from the Marriott.

old cunucu house was a regular stop in the 90s and later, the escargot was killer.
my son's first nite ritual, the buccaneer, escargot, with lots of bread and lobster tail.
he's 19 and has been taking cabs, eating solo the first nite the last 5 years....
the kid's been eating that same dinner 15 years!!!!
june 20th, joey will be eating solo at the buccaneer, i'll be visiting a few watering holes.
