MJ has always been one of my favorites.
check out their extensive craft beer selection too.
mid to late May is their white asparagus extravaganza!
Love, love, love Mme J's.... discovered it our second year and have visited every year since and never had less than a wonderful all 'round experience! Next visit.... early July.
We go to MJs at least twice each trip now. Never had a bad meal except once a few years ago. We have had the steaks, the rack of lamb, schnitzel and our favorite, almond crusted grouper. Love their potatoes gratin too. They serve excellent warm bread and butter plus they have some marinated onions on the table that I really enjoy with the bread. I was not very hungry one night so I decided to just have a chicken Caesar salad instead of a meal. Big mistake. It came in what looked like the serving bowl at our family dinners and was filled to the top. There was enough salad for 6 people. It was good but no way could I eat even half of it if I was starving.
We haven't been our last couple of trips but I always enjoyed both their schnitzel and the surf and turf. I keep thinking I'll try the firecracker shrimp but their portions are just so large. Our very first visit they asked if we wanted indoor or outdoor seating and we said indoor. We had a good chuckle when we were seated in the "indoor" area.
MJ's is one of our favorites in Aruba. We go 4-5 times per year. It has been consistintly good except during one of our visits last year. I am a creature of habit and I usually always get the butcher's steak. On this occasion, when the steak came to our table I was shocked to see the size as it was much smaller than all of my previous visits. When I asked the waitress if there was a mistake and she said no this is the normal size. At the end of our dinner, the chief came over and told me the next time we come, to let him know and he would make up for it. We did go back a few times after that but it is not my style to ask for anything extra. Don't get me wrong, even with the smaller size, the steak was excellent and that is why will will return again.
My wife and I are going back next Friday night to celebrate our 25 wedding anniversary and I hope we have a great dinner.
Only been there once 2 years ago. I had the almond grouper which was heaven. My mother had the jumbo coco rasta shrimp which were awesome...
We we're going to go there on our trip that ended last week but didn't make it. We're not bigger full dinner eaters, but had planned to sit at the bar for an appetizer and a couple craft beers. Hopefully we'll make it there this Fall.
on a couple of our aruba trips where we did not get to MJs for dinner, we did go by at around 10 pm for coffee and dessert.
the first time the host balked, but then found us an empty table.
the next time, i called and asked before we showed up.
Sorry folks, you all probably know I will never step foot in thst restaurant.
bad meal reported = arrogant chef=angry us= words exchanged= no go ever again
quinta Del Carmen blows that place out of the water anyway
just read on another thread and site with equally BAD reviews on mjs
