Restaurant Tipping

Did a search and could find no information. Does anyone know if a Service Charge is added to restaurant bills and, if so, is it customary to add 5% to 10% for good service?

It usually tells you on the menu. If service is good then we always give extra.

Restaurant Tipping

Depends on restaurant if SC is added. Some do, some don't.
At resort look for free tourist book called Menu. It list lots of info on approx 25 restaurants like if SC is added, phone #, location on maps, menu prices, ........
Yes if service is great I add a little.

I suggest you read your bill, but if service is good I would definately over tip, thats how they make a living.

Re: Restaurant Tipping

Most of the restuarants have a service charge to the bill, however the service charge is not a tip its a supplement the the salary, its devided amount the waiters, cooks, bussboy and for breakage

If you hade a great service and want to leave a tip you can do that (5-10%) that will go direct for your waiter/Bussboys

Re: Restaurant Tipping

Many have a built in 15% service charge, you just need to ask or look at your bill. WE usually add another 5 to 10% on top if the service is good. I also leave the hosekeeper a few bucks every day.

Re: Restaurant Tipping

Most restaurants do add a 15% service charge. I will be displayed on the check so make sure to look before paying any bills. This is divided among the entire restaurant staff and is based on senority. If you have good service and leave an extra tip, it goes directly to your server (who may only receive pennies from the service charge). I do not know what is customary but I typically leave an extra 10%.

Re: Restaurant Tipping

the service charge rate is in every restaurant different. some restaurants only charge the service charge with big groups and some restaurants don't have a service charge.

Tipping is normal because the employees are getting a low basic salary and need the tipp to become a normal salary!

Re: Restaurant Tipping

If the service charge is added we give the waiter the extra directly, this is the only way you know who gets the service charge and or tip.
