    Is Soenchi's still there

    Good afternoon everybody,

We'll be in Aruba five weeks today (October 12). After a forced absence of two years (damned colon) I can hardly wait to get back. When we were there, there was a restaurant in the high-rise area called Soenchi's. (I may have mispelled the name.) It served an incredibly decadent dessert in an ice-bubble.

We'd just like to know if it is still there.

    Kindest regards everyone,

    Glenn

I don't believe Soenchi has any recent posts on Facebook?

Their last review on a popular website restaurant search engine was made on January 1, 2013 when she was on the island in August 2012. It is gone entirely from another popular restaurant review site.

I have to be honest I would not be surprised if they were closed. We had dinner there once and it was not a great experience and would not return.

Long story short, dd WANTED that dessert and we ordered it with our dinner and were told at dessert time they were out of them. Then another table came in and sat down for "just dessert" and received one. We were given a rain check and told we needed to come back another night. Dd "had to" go back so we did. We were shown to seats at the bar when there were plenty of open tables. Think "second class citizens" and treated as if we were nothing but a HUGE inconvenience.

FWIW, they were getting a lot of use out of the microwave "ovens" Not exactly fine dining

Oh, I did not pay attention to the dates on FB!

Only paid attention to the photos, the TripAdvisor certificate (dated 2012) and was excited that they seemingly were doing well. Now, I have my doubts.

Sorry to hear about your bad experience with them. That's just not right.

They are closed. Had one meal here several years ago and it was not good.... I am not surprised either that they are gone.

Thanks everyone for your help. When you're only there for a week, you have to kind of plan your restaurant eating strategically.
