I caution anyone who is thinking of going to Aruba that week and staying at the Renaissance Suites. We made the mistake last year. The noise and the population/caliber of people was bad. I will just put it as "we were out of our element" and leave it at that. It was a solid 4 days of noise and activities that we had NOT anticipated.

We flew down with Jamie Foxx a few years ago. He boarded in MIA for our flight to Aruba. We were in the second row in bus/first on AA and he sat in front of us. He had his daughter and another girl with him and a guy that looked like a body guard. He was performing at the soul beach festival. He was very nice and talkative. He let people come up and take pictures for a while. We got pictures and autographs.

This event has turned into a very nice experience. What we enjoy the most is the way the activities are scattered throughout the islands. And for those like us, who may have already seen the artist, the beach events are very nice and a good way to meet people and enjoy Aruba.

Also....for inquiring minds, the festival has done a much better job of using various venues during the 4 or 5 days. However, a nice treat for those who don't necessarily want to get stuck "in the concert venues" is to take advantage of the beach parties. The crowd is always diverse, the music is fantastic and it is much more casual. Always look forward to Moomba's and this year, they will be doing Sunday at Baby Beach, adjacent Big Momma's
