    Spotlight~~~~ Wacky Wahoo

    http://www.aruba.com/things-to-do/wacky-wahoo

    Thoughts?

Although I like Wacky Wahoo, I still do not like the fact that contacting them is a pain in my not so tiny bum.
They don't answer the phone til usually after 4 pm.
They have no reservation form on their website (since i last looked.)
Often we skip Wacky as we do not put in the effort in making a reservation.
    A reservation is usually needed!

Their seafood is cooked to perfection.
    Their desserts are terrific.

THE freshest seafood on the island
    fabulous grouper, actually any fish
Totally agree on their lack of ability to make a reservation
Heads up owners, time to improve in the area of reservations
we too often skip cuz we can't get contact easily

The owner, for some reason, thinks a reservation via email is not a great way of doing business. He thinks that it won't/doesn't work, for some strange reason. I tried to explain to him that reservation via email is more secure as you have everyone's request on paper rather than by phone where there is a greater issue of someone not marking down the reservation (which has happened to me). Unfortunately, I don't believe he understands the concept.

Same issue if you want to cancel or change number of ppl in your group...no way of getting in touch with them. If you have a car, drive over and see if you can get a table. We did that once and it worked out perfectly. Probably because ppl didn't show up and couldn't get hold of them.

I usually book via the concierge OR if you want to call they only answer the phone between 3:30 and 5pm (Aruba time).

Still the best place for fish.

also too, at around 8:30 or 9 pm it is a great spot to go for a cup of coffee and a piece of their cashew cake.
if you are in the neighborhood , stop by and if they have an empty table.......sit for coffee and cake.

did a walk in once...just happened to luck out....tried after that to no avail
also tried to make reservations and was not able to get thru....figured since we had already been there once we would try elsewhere....
I make a point of checking the forum for new restaurants that have opened since our last visit or ones that are being talked about in a good way before our trip and then try to make it to at least one new one during our vacation...
of course we still have our favs that we return to each year.....

Anyone else had luck with this place as a walk in? I'm thinking of trying it out next month.

We went there as a walk-in a few weeks ago without any issues. But it was low season and we tend to eat late when on vacation. It was probably about 9pm when we were driving by for dinner (we were at The Wine Room earlier for a tasting and a few snacks) - the place was half-empty so we walked in, were seated right away, and had a very nice (and quiet) dinner. Probably one of the best experiences I've had there since it wasn't packed and noisy.

We've been and the food was very good. The portions are huge. But I don't think we will be back for a while because of the reservation system there. We don't like to have many reservations which usually isn't an issue because we don't mind eating early. We tried to get in through the Radisson concierge and the only available tomes were 9pm for our week. The next trip I planned ahead and used the Aruba eguide app to get a reservation but I heard they were no longer taking reservations that way (unconfirmed). We usually only pick 1 or 2 must do restaurants for our visits and this is one that we've done and it's not convenient to drop in or even get a reservation once we are on the island so I doubt we will be back for a while.
It is a place for fresh fish lovers not to miss. Of we ever get my dad to come with us, we will take be sure to take him
Not sure when, but we will be back
