    yesssssssssssss!!!!

We had a night at "Kitchen Table" ruined because a couple kept Face Time'ing their kids during dinner - to the point where the host asked them to shut it down. Given that it's only sixteen people, you can imagine how well that was going over.

Geez, an awful lot of rules from the servers. Nothing but "don't do this" and "don't do that".

Dear Everyone Else: Get off of your phone, listen and write my order down as I say it to you, and repeat it back to me. I shouldn't have to ask your name, you should introduce yourself when you first come to the table, and I will gladly introduce myself and guests if asked. Bring my food while it's still hot and check back with me to make sure I am happy with what you brought. Don't worry, I wont stack the dishes or the glasses, because I expect you to clear my table of used plates and silverware in a timely manner. And if you have cleared all of the remaining dishes, go on over to the POS and print my check and deliver it to the table. I will pay promptly and I'll leave you a real good tip if you've provided real good service. The worse the service you provide, the less your tip will be, it's not automatic. And it will be solely based on your performance and attitude. If the food is bad, that is a matter I will take up with management, not you or any other FOH folks. Remember, you chose to be a waitperson, now go out there and do your job. And quit whining about customers that pay a great part of your salary that are most times just trying to help. Be gracious and if you are the true professional you claim to be, my lingering after enjoying a good meal and service should not cause you any problem at all.

I stack, but always big on the bottom, cleaned off and then smaller on top. I don't like a lot of dishes on the table, especially if we are taking leftovers-too much on the table.

I agree with the payment-I want to check the bill first. Their have been mistakes including getting the wrong bill/wrong table. Also, make sure you are giving me my credit card back-yes, I was given someone else card and they couldn't find my card(long story).

Also, check back more frequently. Asking if everything is okay two minutes after dropping the food and then disappearing for 20 minutes does not work. Sometimes I may need more dressing or sauce or another drink, etc.

I agree with the stacking. It's very hard to just leave dishes around on the table. Generally it's not like your eating at your big dining room table with plenty of room so plates tend to be in the way. Is it a mom thing maybe? I never ever stack glasses - likely from years of restaurant work

Susan and I were both servers while in college. We are plate stackers too. Build it well and it will be removed promptly! Not a ton of real-estate on dining tables these days anyhow. Sometimes if you just give credit card the printed receipt comes back with less detail. no chance to really review it then. We like to read it over first and make sure you get the proper tip. And yes we will get up if your not around to get missing silverware or extra napkins too we need.
