Question Substitute for Flying Fishbone

Hi, longtime lurker, first-time poster here...

I've been going to Aruba for a decade (11 trips in 10 years, yeah I love this island). But for the first time I'm going without my family, just my BF. I've been to Flying Fishbone a bunch of times with my family and LOVE it. But without Dad paying for the long cab ride on this trip, I'm thinking $80 in cab fare may be a little steep for us.

Anyone have any suggestions for a substitute restaurant that's as much on-the-beach fun as FF, but is closer to the high rises (we'll be at the Marriott). Just to give you an idea, here are the other restaurants we've already got lined up for that week:

Papiamento
Madam Jannettes
Blossoms
Chalet Suisse
Amazonia

Thanks for your help!

welcome to the forum!!!

for seafood BETTER than FF try Wacky WAHOO, on Palm beach rd. (near high rise)

and by better, i mean tastier. IMO

does not compare though in presentation and atmosphere of FF

but, we LOVE WACKY WAHOO

Passions at Amsterdam Manor is great. It is on the beach and the atmosphere is wonderful. The food is good, not great, but the watermelon salad is a must. IMO, the atmosphere is worth the visit.

For similar ambiance but cheaper try Marina Pirata.

Passions is on the beach at the Amsterdam Manor (low rise resort). Terrific service, delicious food and same sunset.

If you still wanted to go to the FFB or try Marina Pirata, consider renting a car for the day.

That might be a good idea, if you'd like to try a different restaurant you could go to Marina Pirata in the evening and during the day take a tour of the island, maybe go to baby beach or NB....but you'd be killing 2 birds with one stone...

Why don’t you try Matthews. I haven't been yet, but plan on going there when I arrive in July. My friends who were in Aruba in October for their honeymoon recommended it. Here is the link....it looks really nice.
