great food

We always ask the taxi drivers and other locals where they eat. In November we will go for our second time. We don't like to dress for dinner so we stick to more casual places. Last year loved Iguana Joe's and Moomba on the beach. This year we will be hitting the back streets. OK must admit to hitting the bakery at the hotel across the street more than enough times. lol We don't eat appetizers or drink so the bills are much less then we had anticipated since most quotes we read included appetizers, desert and drinks. Ordered mineral water at Moomba's and had to laugh to find out we got an $8.00 bottle from nearby town in the US. My hubby sticks with cheeseburgers and even he was walkin on the wild side and ordering local stuff. .....Have a wonderful honeymoon. What a wonderful place to start a life together.

Cool Places to eat

The last night of our trip, someone on the beach suggested going to The Paddock... on the dock in Oranjastand, for the ribs. WE did, and were very delighted to find it was all the ribs you could eat for only thirteen dollars. We figured there was somethiing wrong with the place, but after receiving our food and drinks we discovered the food was excellent, the amount they gave you was overwhelming, the drinks were great, it was clean, fun, on the water, and the price was the best part. I would go again, definitely

Just returned from Aruba on the 25th. We absolutely love Hostarios which is right across from the Hyatt. We have never had a bad meal and the service is always impeccable. Forget Giann's across from the Radisson. It may look nice but the food was horrible, the inside was hot and miserable and the flys on our food were disgusting! Marina Pirates is a wonderful local restaurant off the beaten path that is delicious, service is great and the ambiance is worth it. La Tratorrio is great for view but food is par. Aqua Grill, in our opinion, has lost its zest for food. We were there when it opened in 2001 and it was one of our favorites but it has changed - food is not what it used to be. Madamme Jeannetts, Flying Fishbone (great for honeymooners) are all in our recommendations. Enjoy and have a great wedding and honeymoon! We will be back in Aruba next May!

One more suggestion - for a light lunch or dinner, try Amici's across from the Hyatt and below Texas de Brazil. Great sandwiches, Dutch pea soup (my favorite) and great gelato!

FAV Restaurant

We like Madam Janette's, El Gaucho, French Steakhouse and the pizza at Pizza Bob across from Bucuti. As far as bars -- anywhere they serve Bombay on the rocks, margaritas (for my wife) and cold beer. Bula

Iguana Joes is great for casual "fajita" style food.
Blossoms is great for Asian (great sushi.)
The old Chez Mathilda was awesome, the new Matilda (I was not impressed with and it is very expensive for what you get.)
Madame Janette is usually great, but last April our food was so overbearingly salty that I question going back. I hope Chef Kasi is paying attention.
Villa Germania (at the Seaport) has awesome crepes and very good German style dinners.
Waterfront Crabhouse is not so great.
I've heard good things about Chalet Swiss and Le Petit Cafe.
What is really scary is that when I drive past the "Golden Arches/MacDonalds", it's always jammed.
It just goes to show you that everyone has different tastes.

You have to try Madame Jeanette, we went in May for the first time and cannot wait to go back again. Other favorites Mirandi's, Sunset Grille, Light House Restaurant (mostly for the view at sunset), Moomba's is great for lunch!!

Have a wonderful time, and congrat's on your wedding!!

1) Madame Jeanetts (Food Excellent)

2) Papiamentos (not sure of the spelling) Romantic get a pool side table.

3) Pinchos Great for drinks and appetizers at sunset on the water.

Thumbs up Pago Pago

My wife and I also enjoy Pago Pago. Not much of a view but the food is very good and the service is great.
