I usually tip 20%. To make things simpler if a restuarant added 15% I divided the tip in half and left that amount in cash so I ended up leaving 22%. I do find it annoying them adding the 15% but I certainly understand. i was told by a local that American's were good tippers but some tourist from other countries did not like to tip or tip at all. He told me a lot of tourist from Venezuela would not tip at all so it's probably best for them to add the minimum 15% tip. A local also told me water is very expensive and his water bill was $200 a month for a family of 5.

We always leave something extra. You're never sure how much of the SC goes to the wait staff. I also find that the restaurants we frequent the most don't add a sc

When I was younger.. I worked at Friendly's in Cape Cod... I waited on this family from Canada and gave them everything....
comes time for the bill the man paid and left NOTHING...... I was so pee--d off that I asked him .. hey sir "was my service that bad that you couldn't
leave me a tip.. he tells me Oh you guys put the tip in already.. before I could say anything his wife yells at him and said.. you KNOW tips are not included in
the bill. Don't be so cheap and give the little girl a tip and it better be a good one. lol Did he did as he was told.

If the restaurant does not add a 15% service charge and you add a 20% tip to the check, you're never sure how much of the tip goes to the waitstaff.

Unless you tip in cash......... and I always do in Aruba. Even for the additional tip I leave beyond the sc.
