Which Italian restaurants do you favor?

It was about the best we had found, but found it hard to return since we had to shout at one another through dinner because the acoustics were so bad .

If someone tells me they have remodeled recently maybe we will give them another shot next time.

Aruba is not known for spectacular Italian food
Would have to agree. We gave up awhile ago, but last time we stayed at the Westin with the in-laws who insist on Italian every other night, Cafe Baci was pretty good. We did not starve there.

I'm with you, Lisa - Sole Mare was way too noisy for dinner conversation. Add that to "just okay" pasta and we never went back.

The best Italian restaurants are the ones I went to in Italy.

That would make sense (unless you've ever been to a homestyle Italian Restaurant in Boston's North End). Having said that said, this thread is about Aruba.....not world travels or US italian cuisine.

I've had a lot of Italian food at a lot of places and I'll vote for Gianni's, if you're in a small group. My experience has been that they haven't mastered the art of handling a large group.

Handling a large group could be a thread of its own.

I would agree, none are spectacular though many are good. Why? I'm certainly not a chef, but I might blame it on the availabiity of the freshest possible ingredients.

We had a really bad experience at Elliotis on our last trip. We were seated inside and the acoustics are so bad it sounded like people were screaming. The noise was horrendous, actually painful. We were finally able to move outside, which was better, but the food was just ok. We won't be going back there.
