Vow Renewal - "Reception"

Hey all -

I am trying to pick the perfect restaurant for about 10 - 12 people, including 2 children (8 and 12).

We are attending a vow renewal ceremony on the beach at sundown and we would like to go to dinner afterwards. We are looking for something around $50 - $60 a person.

I love all the restaurants in Aruba - but can't decide which would be best for an occasion like this. We have also never dined out with more than 4 people on the Island before. Most of the folks will be staying at the Radisson.

Would love to hear suggestions!

Thanks!

years ago i went to a 60th birthday party for a friend at madam janette. there were 18 of us and we sat outside at a bunch of table put together. it was terrific.

another time another gathering and there were 15 of us and it was at elgaucho.
it was ok, not great.

another time, we were a party of 10 at tulip and it was terrific. (tulip is the outdoor restaurant at mvc eagle beach.)

and....how about matthews ?

They have two private dinning rooms at L.G. Smith Chop House. Also, Mirandi's is a nice option.

MJ's was my thought - but I know the last time my wife and I had dinner there we hit almost $200 with tip. Maybe we should skip the expensive wines!

Never been to Matthew's or Marandi although I have been planning on visiting Marandi for a while.

I like the MJ idea - it is gorgeous back there and they have lots of space. And the food is so darn good!

Thanks!

when we went the meal we preset
the choices were

Almond crusted grouper
Wiener schnitzel
pork loin
steak

cesar salads for everyone

there were a few bottles of wine for the table

talk to kasi or to chris or to job and make it "work"

those that need the $10 martini can belly on up to the bar and buy one on his/her own dime.

honestly, also look into tulip
their outdoor venue, under the roof is terrific and the food is very good and reasonably priced.......at least 1/3 less than MJs.

but MJs ahhhhhh so good.

What I would do is pick a place with the atmosphere that you like and then speak with the restaurant to make a fixed menu with set wine (or bring your own) with a few different choices in a price point that you want.

I am sure MJ's or Marandi's might do that. Both are great places!

I second the Tulip idea. They have a great outdoor area where alot of receptions are held (both small and large) and can put together a nice package for you (and decorate as well if you like.)

You can contact them via email for event planning:

Tulip pretty much told me that they don't have any "special" packages (maybe only because we are such a small party). I can put my own menu together to limit what people can order.

I am going to see what MJ's can do. I LOVE MJ's!!!

I had a Tuna Tataki appertizer the last time I was there - I still havent gotten over how tasty it was!
