    West Deck 4-19-2015

Oh, we have a new favorite to add to the list. We havenít been to Aruba for a few years so I know that many of you already know of this gem. I made the mistake of assuming that because it was early on a Sunday evening, we wouldnít need a reservation. Boy was I wrong but the staff graciously accommodated us and I am glad they did!

For any of you bread lovers out there, the Caribbean Bread Basket is awesome. Itís so good that several pieces are already missing and can be seen in the next picture on the calamari plate.

The hubby got the Fire and Spice Crackling Calamari and I stole a piece to taste. It really wasnít spicy by my taste so I think that it would be safe for most people. It was very lightly breaded so that you could taste the calamari and it was very tender. Note the two pieces of bread that were missing from the bread basket.

I had the Governorís Bay Beach Salad which had strawberries, blueberries, oranges, raisins, cheese, and candied nuts all topped off with an orange vinaigrette. It wasnít very large in size but was surprisingly gratifying and filling.

Hubby had the Tenderloin Steak Wrap and loved it. It is a rather large wrap as you can see in the photo.

I opted for the traditional Aruban Keeshi Jena consisting of shredded chicken, prunes, cashews and Gouda. It was very, very good.

The West Deck is a covered deck overlooking the water and within walking distance of the Renaissance. Portions are large and the food is really, really good and the staff is very friendly! It would be great place to stop from the airport on your way to the high-rise or low-rise areas and I highly recommend it to anyone who hasnít tried it yet. I love all of the hanging fish sculptures which twirl in the wind!

West Deck has been on our to try list for awhile. I'm saving it for our November trip since we'll be staying at the Rennaisance then. Love the photos!

Thank you cpjones! I love taking pictures and after 8 times here there is only so much scenery, lol. I've moved on to food now since we love to eat. Next on the list is Quinta Del Carmen. We will be going tomorrow evening.

We love the West Deck. We tried the bread basket on our last trip and loved it, along with the balashi grouper. Yum yum!

I agree, this review format is great. West Deck is another on our list. Thinking doing our pre timeshare days at the Renn to make it easier to hit some of the spots in your reviews.
Not sure when, but we will be back

I made a reservation for lunch on my birthday May 20th after I finish a tour with Bully. However, I land in Aruba at 1:30pm. Maybe a late lunch at 2pm on my first day.
