Oh, we have a new favorite to add to the list. We havenít been to Aruba for a few years so I know that many of you already know of this gem. I made the mistake of assuming that because it was early on a Sunday evening, we wouldnít need a reservation. Boy was I wrong but the staff graciously accommodated us and I am glad they did!
For any of you bread lovers out there, the Caribbean Bread Basket is awesome. Itís so good that several pieces are already missing and can be seen in the next picture on the calamari plate.
The hubby got the Fire and Spice Crackling Calamari and I stole a piece to taste. It really wasnít spicy by my taste so I think that it would be safe for most people. It was very lightly breaded so that you could taste the calamari and it was very tender. Note the two pieces of bread that were missing from the bread basket.
I had the Governorís Bay Beach Salad which had strawberries, blueberries, oranges, raisins, cheese, and candied nuts all topped off with an orange vinaigrette. It wasnít very large in size but was surprisingly gratifying and filling.
Hubby had the Tenderloin Steak Wrap and loved it. It is a rather large wrap as you can see in the photo.
I opted for the traditional Aruban Keeshi Jena consisting of shredded chicken, prunes, cashews and Gouda. It was very, very good.
The West Deck is a covered deck overlooking the water and within walking distance of the Renaissance. Portions are large and the food is really, really good and the staff is very friendly! It would be great place to stop from the airport on your way to the high-rise or low-rise areas and I highly recommend it to anyone who hasnít tried it yet. I love all of the hanging fish sculptures which twirl in the wind!
