Where's the best/cheapest breakfast downtown area?

We used to go to the Waterfront crab house a lot. I think it's gone now. Looking for somewhere close to the Ren for a good fairly priced breakfast. Of course we will be doing the dutch pancake house but I was looking for some other ideas.

Hi Mark,

There is still a Dunkin Donuts, Starbucks and Subway in the mall next door. Dutch Pancake House has a breakfast special for $8.50 (scrambled eggs, bacon or sausage, toast, hash browns, and proferittes (sp? - silver dollar dutch pancakes). Cafe next door also has a relatively inexpensive breakfast. Cheapest is breakfast in the room which has a toaster, microwave, two burner stovetop, pans, dishes, etc.

Have fun...we leave on the day you arrive.

Dave and Jodie

Try DeSuikertuin uptown past Que Pasa and the Police station on the right. Willeke is a great hostess and the food/setting is awesome. Great prices too. Breakfast and lunch! Try it. Great secret place only the locals know about. Try eating in the "sugar garden". Enjoy!

It's not downtown but La Cabana's Island Grill has a great breakfast special. It's $7.50 for
Scrambled eggs served with two sausage links, two
bacon strips, breakfast potatoes, toast, a glass of
juice and cup of coffee or tea. They also have a kids menu with cheaper options. We eat there just about every morning!

Taste of Belgium is a bit more expensive than 8 bucks but very solid. If memory serves me right around $12 for a bacon, sausages, egg, toast, tiny fruit and yogurt set.

IMHO they have potential, although a little bit on the pricy side...

We've been going there for lunch since they opened so, yes, some tourists do know about it.

Another great (and inexpensive) place for breakfast downtown is The Plaza Cafe. Been going there for years - great little Dutch place.

Can anyone tell me: what exactly is an American breakfast and what is a Continental breakfast?
American Breakfast is eggs and sausage and juice and bacon etc
Continental is croissants?
I've considered all the places you've mentioned above, still got any other places?

i think you are pretty much on target for american breakfast (add potatoes too i think)

and continental could be a bread of some sort/muffin, coffee/tea and fruit ?.

that has always been my interpretation.
