Why does Barefoot ask for your room number?

I believe this has been asked before but I couldn't find the post. Barefoot asked that we reconfirm our reservation when we arrive and I notice that they ask for the room number. I can't think of any logical reason why they would need it and I'm not totally comfortable providing it. Your thoughts?

my experience with some of the "finer" restaurants is that they ask the name of your resort, but i do not think that i have ever given my unit number.
i think it has to do with "confirmation"
they want to make sure that you are indeed a guest at the resort, making sure it is not phony?
or if you are a no show, they may contact you?

    it does not surprise me.

never ever give a stranger your room number ........make up a room number ?

I think I'm just going to email them to reconfirm and just not provide the room number. The worst that can happen is they don't hold my reservation and I have to find somewhere else.

I know several restaurants ask for your Resort - not sure about room #. You certainly don't have to give that info... We don't stay on a resort - so I never have given that info and never had a problem. I leave them my cell #.

I never thought of not giving the room number. This past trip we didn't make any reservations well in advance (besides El Gaucho because it was on Easter Sunday). We called 1-3 days before and they all seemed to ask for the hotel or room number. This happens every year and we always comply. Next time I may ask why they need the room #!!!

Sure, I would be curious. I just plan to email them just before I leave Logan and let them know we're staying at the Divi. Hopefully that will be sufficient as we will be celebrating our 31st anniversary. It would be sad if they didn't hold the reservation because of it. Oh and we're planning to get by Scotts Brats when we're there to say hello.

It just seems strange to me as it would seem that it would be easy enough to call the resort. I do understand though that some people will be no shows and they worry about that. We've made a fair number of reservations in the past without being asked for a room number. I could provide my cell number but since I totally disconnect when we get to Aruba it wouldn't be much good. Feel like I'm starting to obsess about this which is really silly.
