    Xmas and new year restaurants

Arriving on 24th december for a week in apartment Bucutiweg. Be grateful for suggestions of restaurant for xnas day and new year eve, and if booking is necessary. Sent 2 message and email to our Airbnb host but no reply so hoping this forum can help. We havent hired a car but hoping we can get a round with public transport. Any help would be appreciated

welcome to the aruba.com community forum.
what a coincidence.....October ....and 2 christmas/new years inquiries on the same night, by 2 new members

i do not know what airbnb is.

a nice christmas dinner imo would be at madame janette, or quinta del carmen, or tier del sol's ventennas del mar, or a little less pricey matthews @ casa del mar.

new year eve....i would recommend any of the resorts...hyatt, ritz, hilton, or some of the bars in the high rise..........low rise i would suggest LaCabana and check out some downtown places too!

    welcome to the forum!

Thanks Andrea. Will we need taxis to get to these restaurants? Or is there a bus from Bucutiweg? On the other post you linked it sounds like taxis maybe a problem at these times of year. Are any in walking distance? Have never been to Aruba before so no idea where anything is. Airbnb is a site where owners advertise their accommodation for rent, it's for small individual style rather than big hotels.

unfortunately no, the restaurants are not near where you will be staying.
the walk to the bus stop nearest to bucutiweg is about 20+ minutes away.

you are staying in a non tourist area.

taxis are plentiful, buses are frequent.......however you have quite a walk to the nearest bus stop.

are you staying at vista del mar?

Imo you will need a car rental due to the location of where you will be staying

yes we are at Vista al mar. If taxis are not a problem at Xmas/new year then we can always do that. We don't mind walking, so for the rest of the time 20 mins to the bus stop is ok. Are US dollars accepted there or will we need to get currency?

    US dollars $ are welcomed.
check with the owners of the vistadelmar as to the location of the nearest bus stop.
it is my guesstimate that it is at least a 20 minute walk.

i encourage you to do lots of reading of this forum and feel free to ask lots of questions

Ok. dollars are simple as we live in Panama at the moment. I did try and contact the apartment owner to ask questions, but 2 airbnb messages and an email have not been answered so hence checking with the forum. Thank you so much for your help. Se will look at some of your suggestions on line and try booking something up. Once again thanks

    http://www.aruba.com/sigma/Aruba_Taxi_Fares.pdf

Rates were current as of February 2015.

Bucutiweg is listed as one of the to/from destinations. You just need to figure out where the restaurants/destinations are and you'll be able to calculate the fare. Those prices do not include tip.
