No way madame janette expensive, but they have indeed raised their food cost.
The beer and mixed drinks are still cheap and cold! love love the place!

With respect to local verse tourist comment, my problem living in the past. lol
Sadly i've become my parent.. lol

Favorite zeerover memory, typical aruba fashion, middle age lady asked if i would
    buy her a drink.

The place was filled that afternoon with disabled amputees, upon their departure, the same lady asked for
one for the road, NO PROBLEM, she was the bus driver!!!!!!!

    love their spirit...

I am sure that I have ate at Zeerovers more than most have on this board. I guess it helps that I am here 7 months out of the year and I live about 3 blocks from it. I know everyone says that its all deep fried. That is the truth but the good thing is, they only season the fish and shrimp and fry it in clean oil. There is no breading on so to me, that's a big deal because a lot of places have sooo much breading on, you can not taste the shrimp or fish. Another plus is, you use to have to tear the heads off the shrimp and eat it with the mud vein in it. Now, most of the time the shrimp are peeled and deveined. Just has the tail on. We love their plantains. We say they are the BEST on the Island. We each get 1 pc of fish, some shrimp. We get 1 order of fries for 3 people because they are big orders. Then we each get a order of plantains. We just drink water so it comes up to $15 per person and we are stuffed!!! I mix their catsup, mayo, and alittle papia hot sauce together and I always call that: Aruba Bob Sauce. We use that on the fish, fries and shrimp. It does not get any better or fresher than that.

from the airport turn right as if you are heading to San Nic
    you are on rte 1A
follow 1A til you get to the Saveneta sign...bear right and go straight.
Zeerovers will be on your right

(if you have been to flying fishbone or omats....follow as if you are going there.)

We didn't care for the food. The shrimp were fried whole, head, shell and poo-pee trail and the Mahi was a very small fish that was steaked. I never heard of anyone steaking their Mahi and the fact that it was a very small fish led to a lot of small bones. That was one greasy mess trying to de-shell and de-vein those shrimp. YUK, but yes wear whatever you want. Ohhh let me add that the fries were very good.

those photos certainly do not make the mahi look appealing. (IMO)
the mahi looks so very much overdone.

the older (and fatter) i get, the less i can handle all of that fried.

do like the shrimp...one of the times we were there we did not have heads on our shrimp, just tail.

Just keep in mind that this is a local place and about 99% of the local people, LOVE bones in the fish and they LOVE the heads on their shrimp. My wife will not eat the fish or shrimp there so we get her Chicken at Lagrahans ( sorry about the spelling) and take it to Zee Rovers and they are fine with that. Although some tourist really like the bones in the fish and heads on the shrimp. At ZeeRovers they always steak their fish. I have never seen it filleted. But a lot of times they do have the shrimp peeled and deveined with just the tail on it. The prices have gone up but they added a lot more space to eat there. I guess too many tourist are going there!! The fries and plantains are really good there,

We figured it was a local thing or I guess if we were from Louisiana it would be expected, but they were mostly tourists there and it was packed.

Now we did have a delicious grouper sandwich at Mulligans.
