Any advice on tipping the staff at the Marriot Stellaris and Casino

Hi I am getting married at the Marriott Stellaris and casino next month and just found out the service charge is seperate from tipping the staff. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions... I have been working with the wedding planner, the wait staff and I would guess the bartender and how about the reverend ?

check this out Tips

maybe one of our wedding professionals (PLANNER karen lutzker) can comment.

also too, another forum member, christine will be getting married soon at the marriott and can comment as to how she intends to tip.

personally if it were me, i would tip the reverend $50 and the wedding planner 15%. if the marriott is charging the service charge, should't that be going to the wait and bar staff?

i am very interested to hear replies

Tipping

It is always appreciated to receive a small tip. However, additional tips for vendors and service people above the standard service charges should only be given for additonal helpful service that made the special event easier for the client.

Tipping

Yes, the cost of a wedding can be expensive at times. However, when an outsdide vendor goes out of their way above and beyond the call of duty, it is always nice to receive a small tip but not expected. If an outside vendor is an owner, you are already paying them their fee. If the outside vendor sends an employee of their company and that person was especially helpful, then it is nice to give them a small tip. If an event takes place at a restaurant or resort, the employees salaries are not that big, so if any employee at the resort or restaurant was especially helpful, then by all means, give them a little something. When you go out for dinner to a a restaurant that already has added a 15% service charge to your bill, if your waiter was especially attentive and helpful, a tip should be given because that 15% we were told is divided up among the kitchen staff and servers. Bottom line, tip what you can afford is always rule of thumb when you have arranged a wedding or special event.

No problem. I didn't receive your reply, but I did forget the Reverend in my PM. We do intend to tip him. And while our list of 'planned tips' is fairly short, we will definitely do our best to give a little something extra to those that go above and beyond for us, especially those that are graciously accommodating last minute changes / additions for us. There are also a few people we will be bringing small gifts for.

And I agree on the forum - it has been a huge resource to me. I don't think I could have done this without the people on here. If I haven't said it already, thank you to everyone here for all the insight and suggestions and overall moral support!

your appreciation is welcomed
and if it were not for all of the great members . the forum would be useless.
