Aruba versus Costa Rica

Please help!!
We have a very hard desicion ahead of us. We have been given the option of staying in Costa Rica OR Aruba for our honeymoon. The dates we will be gone are Oct. 25-Nov.6th. The Costa Rica wedding gift is a week stay at a penthouse/resort in the town called Jaco. The other gift from some other friends is a week stay at La Cabana in Aruba. Both are very generous gifts, but we can only pick one or the other because to do both means paying almost $2500-$3000 in airfare. Our ideal honeymoon is to lay on the beach with a few cocktails then hang out with some live music in open-air bar. In addition, we would like to do some sightseeing and other excursions.

My concern is that the gift in Aruba is at the La Cabana, which doesn't seem like a honeymooners paradise??? I've read it is a 3 star hotel, so I don't know what to expect? I've also read this is more of a "family" resort. We are in our late 20's, have no kids and would like to have a nice honeymoon and save the family atmosphere for later in life. Can anyone give us any advise on this??? We could really use any input possible. You only do a honeymoon once (hopefully) so, I would really like to make this the best possible. Thank you for any help!!

Re: Aruba versus Costa Rica

you don't have to worry about getting muggd in aruba. however, if you like rainforests than goto costa rica. Aruba has an incredible nightlife and since your trip is a gift, you should have some honeymoon money to spend all over the island, in other words don't worry if your hotel isn't the ritz
