Assistance from Wedding Planners- Slow Turnaround the Norm?

Hello, I wanted to get input from other Aruba brides out there. I booked my wedding at the Marriott and hired one of the hotels wedding planners, but am having trouble getting responses to emails and phone calls. My wedding isn't for another 6 months, but still have questions, and am feeling quite ignored. Is this normal? My wedding planner does not like phone calls, plus she takes on average about a month to respond to emails. Very frustrating. Am I alone here?

check out this above thread. apparently slowpaced is an issue for some.

if your planner does not like phone calls and emails he/she is in the wrong business.

I think waiting a few days is acceptable and of course if you email on a friday and don't hear till tuesday or wednesday. but more than a week is unacceptable. I have to write that down, dream weddings aruba. though when i emailed the bucuti, it was on a saturday and the woman there got back to me on a sunday. i was very impressed

    ArubaBride2011,

    I am another Marriott bride!

I am getting married in early August and we did our planning last month. My experience was that they schedule about 3 1/2-4 1/2 months out. They make it very easy!! It is hard to explain, but I think they have a set plan. It is very efficient but effective.

Simone is my wedding planner and she has been wonderful! Simone thought of things I never would have thought of.

Yes, it is true that that when a wedding is planned so far in advance, it might take a while for the the resort planner to get back to you after the initial plans start to go forward. I am sure if the bride and groom have any questions or concerns the planner will email you back. If the questions are urgent, and you need an immediate reply I suggest that you put a call out to planner from the resort that is assigned to you to get a quicker response.

We did our wedding at the Marriott back in November of last year, and it was a similar experience. I had read about it ahead of time so I wasn't as frustrated as you. I made sure the date was finalized, the general layout of the wedding was discussed and a we had a quote that was pretty close, and then we chilled out for several months. About three months before the wedding the contact picked up. We did go for a visit early in the process and that is where we laid out the general plan with what we wanted them to provide. That way I felt more comfortable waiting until a little closer to finalize details.

I worked with Chela initially to get the contract done, then Verna was our actual wedding planner and let me tell you - she was wonderful! I can't imagine anything having gone better from the Marriott point of view. Our flowers, the layout on the beach, the bartender, the music, and the FOOD! It was all wonderful and I has no hesitation telling Verna basics and letting her attend to the specifics. I told her what color of flowers I wanted and something tropical, and Viola! They were perfect. I never saw them ahead of time, but I didn't really have time to stress over every detail and I figured she knew what she was doing.

I am sorry you are feeling worried, and hopefully you will get more contact from them, but I have a lot of confidence in their planning ability!

    Have fun!
