Re: August Honeymoon in Aruba

My husband and I spent our honeymoon at the Marriott and couldn't have been more pleased! We went back in October for our anniversary and stayed at the Divi. People seem to rave about it, and although we had a very nice time and have no major complaints, we are very happy we didn't choose it for our honeymoon.

All inclusive is great, but not for a first timer in Aruba... especially when it is your honeymoon and you're more likely to splurge and be less concerned about money. The hotel, beach and service were outstanding at the Marriott!!!

If you stay there try Simply Fish (if you like fish) for a romantic dinner right on the beach. Other than that, try Chalet Suisse, Madame Jeanettes and/or El Gaucho.

We are going back (again) in April and are trying the Wyndham all inclusive. We'll still spend the extra money and go out to dinner one or two nights to our favorite restaurants.

Any questions, let me know. Happy honeymoon!

1) Bucuti
2) Manchebo

Divi only has all-inclusive.

Re: August Honeymoon in Aruba

We are going to the Marriot for our H.Moon in Sept. We looked at all of the high rises, and then low rises- if you like classy things, good service, nice beach and good places to eat, Id say go the the Marriot- thats what we are looking for. We also took some peoples advice to not do all inclusive our first trip to ARuba- the island is friendly, and there are way too many restaurant options to choose from, that having to eat at the resort for 3 meals/day seems as though it may get old quick.
Also- if you look into it, there are plently of day trips, snorkle excursions, horse back riding, etc- and sometimes they include lucnh or breakfast. i think theres a dinner cruise too! WE wanted to be able to do those things w/out feeling guilty about wasting one of our included meals.
Marriot is always trustworthy. Also- some of the pictures of the Divi and other places online, look really tacky in our opinion- and not so clean. I may be wrong- but thats how it was advertised.

Re: August Honeymoon in Aruba

SnD - well said! I feel the same way. We spent our honeymoon at the Marriott, and our anniversary at the Divi. No comparison! We will always do AI from now on, and still spend the extra money to go to one or two of our favorite restaurants... and it still ends up being cheaper than not doing AI all together. We were treated SO well at the Marriott!!! Perfect place for a honeymoon, and most people wouldn't mind splurging since it is their honeymoon.

We're going back again in April and doing AI at the Wyndham. This'll be our 3rd time in a year and a half... so we're trying to save a little money!

Enjoy your honeymoon!

Re: August Honeymoon in Aruba

We are honeymooning at the Tam/Divi in August. We are getting married in Las Vegas and then off to Aruba. I have a few friends that did their honeymoon at the Tam/Divi and have heard nothing but great things and their Al means Al, not like a few other places in Aruba that have charge extra for drinks.
