most planes have an area that the dress could be hung but not all, when I went the flight attendents laid it flat in the over head compartment. I would'nt recommend putting it in your luggage for fear of it gettting. Friends that came down for our wedding were missing the luggage for two days, best thing to do is carry it on and if it gets wrinkled ask the hotel to press it for you.
