I was born in Aruba in 1952 and will be returning on June 20 for the first time since 1954. I plan on getting married in a civil ceremony on June 21 and then a beach ceremony at the Westen in the evening on the 21st. Following my wedding me and my wife, Dianne, plan on exploring the island trying to discover my old neighborhood and other historical sites and attractions. Can anyone out there help?

If you have been looking at photos from the time you were last here, you will not believe what you will see. But I think Aruba is not doing bad as a whole.
As to exploring Aruba, there are various organized tours and cab drivers are available for private tours, which are both nice, but in your case I would advise you to rent a car, have a map, pack some sunscreen and take long drives.
Which was your neighborhood? What would you also like to see?
For a close encounter with a typical tradition, I suggest you and Dianne visit at least one St. John's Day (June 24) "Dera Gai" festivity. Among the many: the historic museum and the Tuesday evening Bonbini festival are also nice to visit.
