Exclamation Marriott Wedding? Renovation?

Need some help please from fellow Aruba lovers. I am currently booking my wedding for end of July 2008 and just realized this may be a problem. We own at Surf Club and just love it and can not wait to get married in Aruba! I unfortunately have not been able to get back since a year ago and just saw a post that has me pretty concerned. Does anyone know about renovation at the Marriott Resort and Casino? Timing? The Ritz that was planned for next door to the hotel and casino? I was getting ready to book our wedding there since we own Marriott timeshare and it is walking distance, etc...But am not sure what is going on. We are going the end of July 2008 if that helps with 20-30 people. Any info or thoughts would be very much appreciated as I was getting ready to sign away! Thanks a million!

I stayed at the Marriott Surf for a week (11/2-11/9) and an extra 2 days at The Stellaris. Yes they are doing reno's there, but from what we were told they were to be finished by December. The Ritz hotel I believe is not happening, (yet, once again what we were told). The place was great, no probs when we were there- They did lose the a/c for a couple of days, but was fixed by the time I left.

Hello,

We just got back from the surf club and the renovations are complete.. we stayed in the new tower and a few more villas are not ready yet.. but everything else is done..
ocean club.. is very tired and they have been having air condition problems we heard.. we did go to the marriott.. past the ocean club and they were doing some renovations.. so i dont know how that would be to stay at. .. If you can trade for a bunch of villas..two three bedrooms at the surf that would be great.. you cant beat the lazy river and pool at the surf club.. congrats!! be sure to go to wacky wahoo..near by for dinner..

wedding at Marriott

I was all set to book my wedding for Memorial weekend in 08. I was very upset the sales coordinator didn't mention the renovations. After looking on trip advisor I found out about them and then my travel agent did some research and said they were almost finished with the south tower and lobby and one of the restaurants, but this spring they'd be doing the north tower, pool, North deck and another restaurant. It's not set to be complete till July/Aug of 08 which usually means not till sept/oct.
I looked into staying at ocean club or surf club but the wedding would still be at the stellaris. id be fine if i were just going for a visit, but i don't want to have to deal with that for my wedding.
Hopefully it'll work out for you. You could always look into getting married off site- Tierra del Sol or Manchebo I think it's called?
Good luck!

hi,

Marriott is a great place to get married, actually every place on the island is a great place to get married. You do not have to get married at the hotel you are staying, you can get married everywhere on the island if you want to.

Renovations is going on but they will be ready, by the time you will have your wedding. not to worry they will make it happen for you.
