Smile My wedding on Renaissance Island amongst the killer mosquitoes!

Hello all.

Two days have passed since my bf and I took the*plunge*and became husband and wife...and up to now it has been wonderful. I know most people wait till they get back home to write their reviews but I did not feel like waiting and wanted to write it while it was still fresh in mind, and I can do it while laying by the pool.

Our flight to Aruba was delayed 12 hours, which was*nerve-racking*and the flight itself was bumpy and rough. I was never so happy as to be out of a plane, and my 1st impression of the Island was OMG it's hot! The cab ride was short, and we arrived at the Renaissance where we were staying...my 1st recommendation is hitting guest services and ask for berlinda which I believe is a workaholic but she is darn good at what she does. We did the jetski, para-sailing, jeep tour and de palm island and they were all amazing, especially since it was our 1st time in the caribbean. After that our family arrived and Joe's family and friends, which lead to me not seeing him anymore but it was ok because my friends were here as well, and all I have to say about the island itself, is that it's very very beautiful and you will have a blast.

3 days before the wedding we met with juney our wedding coordinator who walked us through everything and took us for a tour and I was very happy we sprung for a wedding on the private island, it was worth every penny (well lots and lots of pennies)!!! Our wedding day was hectic, and I have to admit that I was very nervous, the lady for my hair was late and my bridesmaids were all drinking instead of helping or getting dressed so it was very stressful. But for some reason when I think back I only remember the good, juney did amazing with my flowers and the ceremony itself was lovely and Joe cried so that was icing on the cake. About an hour before the wedding I got to meet the famous jason margarita and I am happy to report he doesn't only live up to the hype he surpasses anything you can expect, he is amazing at what he does and I honestly have to say he knew exactly what to say to keep happy and calm during my whole wedding. From the pictures I saw on his camera I can say he is an amazingly gifted photographer. My ceremony started on time and the sunset was perfect until the mosquitoes showed up!!!!!!! THE MOSQUITOES SUCK on Renaissance Island!!! And in all honesty it ruined my sunset experience!

The food in the island is pretty good, the DJ was awesome and I think his name tony. I'm happy that we got married in aruba and it was really really fun. Juney did an awesome job and he also has an assistant which helped us a lot. If you can afford it, renaissance is a perfect choice, and you will love it!

A happy happy wife!

Hello Andrea. I was more than satisfied with juney jones and renaissance island, it was just those blasted mosquitoes that crashed my wedding and would not leave. They were so annoying they forced us off the beach but besides that we were quite content with our wedding.

Thanks.

aruba has had its share of rain over the past few months, causing the mosquitos.
such a shame they ruined your "sunset experience".

as i said in my prior post we hear great things of juney jones and so many others rave about their renaissance experience. i have been to ren island early in the morning and at dusk and the mosquitos are a nuisance at times, as i guess you know now. it must have been so upsetting.

did the mosquitos pose a problem for the meal and party afterwards? (that part was held at the island, right?)

For some reason all the mosquitoes live on one side of the island. And now that you mention it we didn't notice them during dinner at all. Isn't it weird that on such a small island there are only mosquitoes on one side? I wonder why.

Hey Tino...

I was about to tell her your name was Tino and not Tony, but you beat me to it...lol

Jennifer, My team and I were honored to have been part of your wedding day! Thank you very much for the privilege, and we truly appreciate the review.

Best Wishes,

My Wedding on Renaissance Islang Amongst the Killer Mosquitoes

I had the pleasure of working and coordinating a wedding with Juney Jones at Renassance. He is a pleasant and accomodating planner and pleasure to work with. Renaissance Island is a special beautiful secluded island and a very private location to have a wedding ceremony and reception. However, it is true, the mosquitoes came out as the sun went down and was biting like crazy. The staff gave us bottles of OFF to ward them off. But, before we got the OFF, the itching was terrible!

We've noticed that one of the few things that work is the "OFF Clip On" (http://www.amazon.com/OFF-71703-Off-...0901921&sr=8-1) We just hook it up at the back of the groom's suit or shirt and it protects them both during the complete sunset shoot. The spray creates a shiny film on the bride's skin that doesn't always look to good on pictures.
