sidewalk vendors

Sidewalk vendors are open Mon-Sat from 9 am ish to 5 or 6 pm ish. There are brown huts where they lock up at night. Most closed Sunday as are most stores except some jewlery places. Might find one available???--best then to go to the fleamarket. Don't know of vendor websites or phone numbers in aruba but you could try calling for some help on questions to 1-800-TO-ARUBA Mon-Fri around 8:30 to 4 PM. Also, try www.arubavibes.com They sell on line and have a store downtown. I'm not sure that's correct. if not, I'll repost it.

Hi Ski,
I spoke to someone at Elsa's Flowershop just now (I could not reach Alex at Flora Market)- a calla lilly costs Afl. 4 (US$ 4) each. Three in a bunch, piece of ribbon, they will charge Afl. 25 (about US$ 16 or 17). Delivery usually costs $ 1.50 on Aruba. I guess it would depend on the market price, but I think that the price is quite reasonable.

Hurricane lamps are also for rent here. Then again, if you (two brides) are sharing it might be wise to purchase them and pass them along. Hotels also has some stuff as part of their "standard" decoration, check with them when booking your event, even if you are not using their planner.

Sand is everywhere. Shells are available in many places too, including "for sale" in giftshops. Flora Market - here I go again, I am a fan - had these great zinc and glass lamps when I was getting married, bought a whole bunch, some in storage (but where? We are in between homes now), two are being used... They work great with wind and can be hung too. These people constantly have new stuff, colored hurrican lamps, round, square, etc. I am going by today and will take a look and get you some PRICES.

Lucky Store also has occasional stuff and decoration and are not expensive at all, you might or might not find something, but it is worth taking a quick look. Buy a "bunch" and ask the manager for discount!

Little aluminum pails are also cute, they are cheapest in the U.S., I found.

Why not have them shipped and have them here by your wedding? Ask the hotel how they would handle this or an Aruban company like Viking Freight.
