    Planning a Destination wedding 2017!

    Hello past and future brides!
I'm currently planning a destination wedding, and I am torn between which resort to have it at. At the moment, I am thinking of having my wedding ceremony and reception at the Renaissance Island (I'm sold with the idea of having a private party), and possibly having my wedding guests stay at a different all-inclusive resort.

There are many guests from my fiancÚ's family that are older and travel together to all-inclusive family vacations every single year, so I figure I'll have to continue that trend and have them stay at an AI. However, I'm not quite sure if they'd like the inconvenience of taking a boat ride every day to the private island (although I've read it's one of the best things about the resort).

I have several questions about the Renaissance Resort, and I'm hoping they'll slowly be answered throughout the next year lol:
    1) How is the buffet food for the reception party? Any specific recommendations? Was there enough food? Experience with the alcohol service/amount/selection?

    2) Were the mosquitoes extremely off-putting? Will this ruin the guests' experience?

    3) Do you recommend going with the photographer the coordinator is using?

    4) Once you've worked with the wedding coordinator, are you sent pictures of things to choose from? Not knowing what to visualize is a concern of mine, because of really terrible at it lol However, I am a pretty laid back person and hate micromanaging, so I might even just let the coordinator do their thing and I'll just show up

    5) Do you recommend a different hotel/resort?

    Thank you for your time.

    Kathy

welcome to the aruba.com community forum

the renaissance DOES offer an all inclusive package.

the only way that the boat ride would be difficult for your guests would be if they have mobility issues.
then it gets tricky!! or even impossible depending on the mobility issues.

the flying bugs at ren island often are a nuisance, but many will have their opinions about the bugs.
we go to the island early morning (8 am) and they are a nuisance for an hour or so, but as the day goes on less so.
often at sunset they are problematic too.

i hope others will reply and will help you lots.

remember, destination weddings although wonderful are not easy and there will be bumps along the way.

    also....

you may want to consider a wedding at "divi all inclusive"
    a nice resort
    nice beach
    good food
and folks could stay there and others that do not want all inclusive could stay at any of the low rise hotels or timeshares

Here's a link to a FB on Renaissance, I'm an Administrator
you can get up to the minute updates on restaurants, pool, rooms etc

i would not not hesitate one second on having a wedding there
Far to many walkable / wheelchair accessible restaurants out of the door of the suites to ever do the over priced AI.

We're planning a wedding right now for my daughter but I am beyond bummed they aren't doing it on Renn Island, guests just can't afford to join them. They will honeymoon there however.

feel free to private message me with any questuons

Thank you all for your replies! I should clarify that I'm aware Renaissance is all inclusive; however, my concern was that my fiancÚ's relatives are used to being on resorts that are beachfront, and might not like the idea of having to take a boat ride everyday to the Renaissance Island. I myself, don't mind but I just have to figure out what's the best options for most people.

Andrea: I agree with you that not everything is going to be perfect and knowing myself, I don't expect it to be because I hate the stress involved
Cindyo: Thank you for your input, I will definitely check out the FB!

i am thinking that for all inclusive:
    consider the:
Manchebo with all inclusive option beachfront

    the Riu all inclusive beachfront

    the divi all inclusive beachfront

the occidental (has the name changed yet?) all inclusive beachfront

Regarding having to take a boat ride, I originally thought that I might not like it the first time we stayed at the Renaissance but once we got to the private island, well, we haven't been able to go to any other resort. We've been 8 times and hoping for number 9 in the near future. It's so nice not having to fight for chairs and having towels provided not to mention they rent rafts and have a wonderful bar and restaurant. We have never been bothered by the bugs but I don't believe that we spend as much time there as some folks or we have just been plain lucky. Love, love the Renaissance. Congratulations on the upcoming wedding!

The new RIU on the grounds of the old Westin is a beautiful property, all inclusive and beach front. However, this is a Couples Only Resort and does not allow children. If children will be attending, this would not be a good choice. The new Hilton, on the most beautiful grounds and beach front that were formally the Radisson may be able to provide an all inclusive plan for your guests and worth looking into.
