tipping

i was hoping someone can give some advise on tipping. We are getting married and what is the general tipping for hair and make-up, a wedding coordinator, the offical doing the ceramony and the photographer? Since this is a package deal O am not really sure. Any suggestions would be great!

Thanks

maybe Karen Lutzker can reply:
she is a wonderful wedding coordinator for aruba.
PM karen she is a member of this forum!

my thoughts:
hair dresser tip 20% of total bill for those in the wedding party getting hair done and make up
photographer $50 cash
wedding coordinator $100 cash
wedding celebrant $50 cash
(disclosure......these are guesses)

Tipping

Rule of thumb is to tip a little extra if you receive good service in any industry.

Tips

Who and how much do we tip? We are having 60 people at a wedding this summer and realize we should tip for good service. Any ideas on the following:

Pastor
Wedding coordinator
DJ
Wait Staff and Bartenders
photographer
Hairstylist
Make-Up

Any others and how much?

Thanks

We just got married in Aruba on May 12th.

Reverend Robert Gibson is a Jewel. http://www.arubaeloquent.com

Lorraine Marugg was our wedding planner. Aruba Weddings for You. She made our day completely stress free. We could tell she truly enjoys her job. http://www.arubaweddingsforyou.com

We got married on the beach at Divi. Gorgeous setting. Couldn't have asked for a more perfect day! We had a very small wedding (8 people), but I know Lorraine plans bigger weddings as well and has different packages to choose from.

Happy planning and Congratulations!

We are getting married in June. I guess my post may have been confusing. We need tips on how much to tip the wedding planner etc.

Thanks and congrats

I'm getting married in July and was wondering the same thing. I have no idea how much to tip all of the vendors.

A quick search on Google turned up quite a few answers.

I've leave a link to someone that I really look up to in the wedding industry, Martha Stewart.

Martha's thoughts on tipping!

Regards,

Hey! I am getting married at the Occidental Grand Aruba in October. On my wedding forms there is a 16% surcharge on almost every service provided! I would make sure that tips are not included. It was hard for me to figure out on my form, but that is what that 16% fee is for. Now, if anyone goes overboard to make our day extra special, I will tip them more.

From what I have found, a lot of the time tips are included in the prices (if using one coordinator).

Of course, this may not be something that is very obvious, so I would just ask! If they aren't included, I would tip them the same amount as if I were in the U.S.
Around 15-20% each depending on how well they did their job

Just my opinion

I've studied this quite in depth. I'm not completely done but I'll drop what I have.

We do have sales tax on island which is much less than 16%.

Big establishments say that the 16% service charge has tips included.

I'm yet to talk to a server that actually get any of that 16%, the most logical explanation so far is that it's used for covering breakage of glasses, plates etc.

I do understand the above mentioned reasoning but what I totally disagree is telling the client that it's a tip for the servers and they don't see any of it.

So make sure ask if they do get the "tip" and then determine if you should give them a tip.
