we would have to get the documents back from Thomson, send them to the lagalisation office in Milton keynes in the UK at a cost of 66 ( approx $107 ) to get the apostille on them and then return them back to Thomson by the 16th may

    Hi Mellowtones

Im surprised you sent them away before getting them legalised as that has always been the case with thomson... and thats what we will be doing in july.

However, Arlette seemed happy that i send the documents direct to her by FEDEX... and confirmed that she only needs legalised copies of the birth certs / divorce decree. you dont need to get the no impedement doc legalised - just send as is and only copies of the passports are required - since we will be using them to travel anyway. Once the marriage cert is ready after the wedding, she will return the certs.

I need to call thomson and confirm i can do this... the pack is very very confusing!

    Letter of Non-Impediment

A letter of non-impediment also called a single status report shows that the individual who is planning to be married is single and eligible to marry. If you live in the United States, just call your secretary of states office and they will provide you with information as to where to obtain your letter of non-impediment and apostles which are needed for both of your birth certificates and your letter of non-impediment.

What a nightmare for mellowtones... I am using the same uk travel agents, First Choice/ Thompson and they need to give clearer information in their wedding package. The information is really poor and if it wasn't for the people on this forum keeping me up to date, I would have been so stressed by now ...... First Choice were very happy to sell me the wedding package/honeymoon but that was it, I was given no clear instructions about legalising documents and timeframes of when to send these off, and when I queried a 60 charge..the travel agent told me that this was for and I quote "a career fee" ???? I queried this with the girl (as I already have a career thank you ) and she said she didn't know what it meant... I asked her to query it over the phone and that's when I found out that it was a "courier" fee to cover the cost of sending documents to Aruba!!!! That is what I'm up against

Hi Leighfrompoole, yes its been a complete nightmare.
Thomson have basically turned round and said its our fault as we should not have contacted Aruba to find out any information !!!!!
It has taken them a week to sort it out as they apparently have a "chain of command" to follow but apparently our paperwork was sat in their weddings dept for a few days marked urgent before anybody got in touch with us , for us to receive a phone call from the branch where we booked our honeymoon on a Sunday evening at 5.15pm !!! The rep from Thomsons that rang us said have you taken legal advise out about your paperwork!!!
We were like ...What??? Who are you ??? Needless to say my other half wasnt happy. Like you they happily took our money when booking but after that it all went downhill. The weddings dept were chasing us for paperwork that was never sent to us and asking us to fill forms in that werent required.
Like you said this forum has been a god send.....
    Take care

Karen I believe both Melllowtones and Leighfrompoole are from the UK.
