Wedding reception - The Old Man and the Sea restaurant

Hello,

We are considering having our wedding reception at the Old Man and the Sea restaurant and was wondering if there is any area to have a DJ and dancing area?

hmmm, I gotta step out here and say something I probably shouldn't.....first off, I can't recall any place to dance, but that doesn't mean they can't come up with something.
If it were my reception, I would look for someplace else. Past history here hasn't been to good.

Wedding Reception at Old Man and the Sea

We have not been there in a couple of years but the beach is similar in syle to "The Flying Fishbone", but on a smaller scale. If you are having a very large group, I would not recommend the "Old Man and the Sea". As far as dance floor, I am sure one could be rented by the restaurant at a charge to you.

Many things have changed and improved at this restaurant, and one thing is for certain...their service has become impeccable.

Concerning having a large group, I've been at weddings there with 100+ in attendance, so I am sure they would be able to accommodate you. And yes, they do have a place to set a DJ and if they move a center piece or two, they have a nice area for dancing.

The best part is the view and ambiance! So I would highly recommend it...

Greetings ;-)

I did DJ there before the dancing is in the middle of the beach right in front of the patio everyone will have to seat around that area

Double hmmm.... I agree with Cindy. read up on the restaurant on restaurantsaruba.com for some current and up to date reviews on OMAS. This is an important day so you want perfection. The location is beautiful but there is more to a wedding reception than the beauty of the place. I will just leave it at that!

We tried to make dinner reservations at OMATS before our trip March 7-17. They never responded, even though I contacted them three times. We ended up at Flying Fishbones instead. They were very responsive with the reservation request and the meal and service there was fabulous. Yes, the tables are close together at FF, but we were pleased overall with our experience there. There also was a wedding party set up along the side of the sheltered dining area, although I didn't notice an area for dancing.

We are disenchanted with OMATS based on their unresponsiveness!!

OMATS they definitely have a communication problem by e-mail.

We have 2 different e-mail addresses and both non-responsive.

Its so easy to create a g-mail, hotmail or yahoo address to my opinion, but who am I to interfere with their logistics.

The Old Man and the Sea

We met the owner and his mom right after they first opened. They seemed very nice and eager to make their restaurant a huge success. One of our local Aruba friends that is a waiter at one of the major resorts left his job to take a job as Manager of Old Man and the Sea. He was quite excited about getting a higher position with more responsibility but after a few months left Old Man and the Sea because the professional aspect on their part was lacking. He was fortunate that the resort that he had worked at as a waiter for so many years took him back. About the location, very pretty. About the food, nothing special and a very limited menu. From what I understand, FF does a very professional job when it comes to hosting a wedding or special event.
